Gaetz, Jordan give Chris Wray deadline to explain ‘special portal’ to FBI from top Democrat law firm

U.S. Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) insist that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has some explaining to do.

“We have learned that since March 2012, the FBI approved and facilitated a Secure Work Environment at Perkins Coie’s Washington, D.C. office, which continues to be operational,” the ultra-MAGA duo reportedly wrote to the FBI. “In a letter dated May 25, 2022, the law firm confirmed and acknowledged the arrangement.”

Perkins Coie is the Democrat-connected law firm where Michael Sussmann, the Hillary Clinton campaign attorney who was found not guilty on Tuesday of lying to the FBI by a liberal D.C. federal jury, was a former partner, in a case filed by Russiagate Special Counsel John Durham.

Gaetz had appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on the Fox News Channel to discuss this unprecedented arrangement between a federal law enforcement agency and a legal practice closely affiliated with the Democrat Party that was allegedly disclosed by a whistleblower.

“Our concern is that politically motivated dirt was being converted into politically motivated investigations. That’s why Jim Jordan and I are making demands for answers on [FBI Director] Christopher Wray immediately, and it’s my hope certainly that we shut this facility down,” Gaetz told Carlson on Tuesday evening, claiming that election lawyer Sussmann was allegedly and inexplicably the person in charge of the workspace for a period of time.

“The Democratic Party shouldn’t have this special access, special portal, to the FBI, especially knowing what we do now that they were often trying to take this opposition research and then use that for law-enforcement and counter-intelligence purposes,” he added.

“The congressmen’s letter gives Wray until June 15 to provide information on the workspace, including an explanation as to why the FBI approved it in the first place, as well as all documents and communications referring or relating to the establishment, maintenance, and accreditation of the workspace,” Fox News reported.

According to a statement from the FBI, however, there is nothing to see here.

“The FBI complies with the law and security policies and works with the Department of Justice to serve classified, Court-authorized legal process necessary to support national security investigations. In certain instances, the FBI coordinates with non-government, third-party entities, such as law firms, that represent service providers which receive these classified Court orders,” the agency told Fox News.

“This includes providing access to private attorneys which represent the service providers in satisfaction of their legal rights. As part of this, the FBI ensures that any storage of classified orders meets stringent security protocols required for such documents,” the statement added.

“I have spoken to former federal prosecutors on the Judiciary Committee and throughout the country, and I’ve not heard any describe a relationship like this with a private law firm,” Gaetz told Carlson, however.

Perkins Coie has not provided a comment to Fox News as yet about this scenario.

Setting aside for the moment the FBI’s justification for the unusual setup, it appears to give credence to arguments from conservatives that the left has weaponized the legal system against those they disagree with politically to an extraordinary degree. As such, a two-tier system of justice is a byproduct, with the Sussmann acquittal perhaps as an example.

  1. “and it’s my hope certainly that we shut this facility down”

Your hope is to shut this facility down? What about shutting down what this “facility” represents?

  2. They should also demand discloses of “any & all” other similar office arraignments with outside companies, firms, persons or organizations.

    1. Those who have violated their oath should be thoroughly investigated and removed from the agency if proven guilty of any violations; not just given a slap on the wrist.

  3. If Pauline is doing so good, why is she wasting our time with non relevant to the subject in this article. Just another con job in action, similar to the DNC. If arrested, claim to be a loyal, card carrying Democrat, they have a different legal system.

  4. It steams me the more I hear reports of our gov’t agencies being in bed with these wicked scum. They continue to walk away w/ no accountability, and no justice. The truth is that one day they will be judged when they face their Creator whether they believe it or not. I look forward to that and find solace in Psalm 2. That doesn’t mean however that we don’t want to see them held accountable during this lifetime. We need to take back this country and either reopen or build prisons and guillotines to fit the crimes.

  5. Get rid of 90% of illegal federal institutions! Start with Homeland Insecurity, TSA, FBI, ATF…..

    1. I agree and suggest looking to how many federal “Health” agencies there are with multi billion dollar budgets CDC, NIH, Public Health Service, FDA to name a few. Yes some good work is done but how much is costly duplicated effort?

  6. I sure hope you two are not holding your breath, waiting on Wray to comply. He’s going to give ya’ll the time of day.

  7. FBI Director Wray is the most partisan and corrupt FBI Director ever. He has blocked every attempt from Congress to interview agents and get information, emails and test messages and FOIA requests from corrupt and partisan agents involved in the totally made up RUSSIAGATE scandal. Everyone should sit down and write a letter to their congressman, senator and Director Wray, send e-mail to his government website and demand accountability and his resignation. I know I have.

    1. The corruptocracy (Rinos & Dinos) control every single institution including the SC.

  8. That is total BS. The FBI needs to be totally dismantled and built up again from the ground up and those a Perkins Coie need to loose their jobs

    1. loose. (rhymes with juice) means….not tight

lose ….. (rhymes with booze) means not win or no longer have

  9. I applaud Reps Gaetz and Jordan`s attempt to compel Wray to reveal info, but, if he refuses to comply, what can they do? After all, under the current AG, the FIB is not only not acting legally, but, is acting an an enforcement arm of the dems, beholden only to them.

    1. Was FIB intentional or a mistake? I love the new name… FIB certainly fits as all they do is lie and cover up for lies.

      1. Intentional, Bole, as a tribute to a TV show in the `60s that starred the comic, Don Adams, which featured an intel agency named the FIB!

    2. Hopefully Nov 2022, the tide will turn.
The problems are Mc Carthy and Mc Connell. Two rinos.

  10. It’s getting REALLY frustrating hearing all these crooks tell us “We did nothing wrong”, and expecting us to simply move on. The bad part is, they get away with it.
