U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Tex.) claims that the open-borders Biden administration is concealing the actual amount of the illegal immigrants pouring across the southern U.S. border and then being allowed to move about the country under the federal government’s current catch-and-release policy.
“I think in February we’re gonna get about 100,000 [migrants]. And again, I don’t care what we call it, but I can tell you this, those numbers of people that are being released, they’re purposely withholding that information. They’ve been told not to withhold that information,” Cuellar told Fox News.
In so doing, he implied that it is irrelevant whether bureaucrats play word games about whether the situation constitutes a challenge or a crisis.
“I now know that they’re bringing people from McAllen over to Laredo, processing them in Laredo, and they’re gonna release them in my community. I represent both areas, the valley and of course, part of the valley in Laredo, and I’ve seen this before,” he explained.
As alluded to above, Cuellar, who positions himself as a moderate and represents a district along the border, claimed that Team Biden is primarily paying attention to amnesty advocates.
“The problem is they’re listening to immigration activists, which is okay. But they got to listen to the local communities. And they got to listen to those men and women in green…”

The lawmaker pointed out that many of the Border Patrol agents (i.e., those who wear the green uniform) have yet to be vaccinated for COVID-19. Meanwhile, agents are not testing the migrants for the infection either as they process and release them, and the government is instead depending “on the local communities.”
“Now, what makes it different [from November 2019] is people are gonna be dropped all over the United States, with not being tested as they get on those Greyhound buses or airplanes also,” he added about the current public health risk scenario.
Cuellar maintained that the current border surge started in the late summer of 2020 while President Donald Trump was still in office, but it’s Biden’s problem now. “When you’re the president, you own the situation, whether it’s a success or not a success.” Cuellar asserted that about 70,000 migrants have been coming across the border on a monthly basis amidst the pandemic, swelling to 100,000 in February 2021.
The Biden administration is sending some kind of evaluation team to the border, although to what end is unclear.
The congressman said he plans to pose some tough questions about the border crisis to Biden’s DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas when the latter testifies before the House Homeland Security Appropriations subcommittee.
The Fox News anchor added that a 73 percent increase has occurred in unaccompanied children entering the Rio Grande sector.
In the meantime, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is deploying National Guard troops and state troopers in an attempt to prevent drug smuggling and human trafficking at the border.
Separately, U.S. Sen Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) tweeted out a video that was filmed in Yuma, Ariz, “as immigrants begin to flood into the US responding to Joe Biden’s catch and release policy. How many have COVID?”
