The rotten apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

The father of Omar Mateen, the radical islamic terrorist who killed 49 people at Pulse nightclub in Orlando on Sunday, is a supporter of the Taliban and once ran for president of Afghanistan, the Washington Post reported.

Seddique Mateen also had his own television show, “Durand Jirga,” that broadcast from a California television station Payam-e-Afghan. He has a host of YouTube videos created  in his name.

“Our brothers in Waziristan, our warrior brothers in Taliban movement, and national Afghan Taliban are rising up,” he said in one of his videos, the Post reported. “Inshallah the Durand line issue will be solved soon.”

In another video he dressed in military camouflage and pretended to be the president of Afghanistan and he called for the arrest of several Afghan officials.

Soon after his son committed the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, the elder Mateen declared the shooting had nothing to do with religion but was tied to his dislike for homosexuals.

A contempt apparently shared by his father who posted a video to facebook on Monday in the Dari language.

“God himself will punish those involved in homosexuality. This is not for the servants,” he said in the video,  in which he described his son as “good” and “dignified” and questioned why his son took it upon himself to mete out the “punishment.”
