Orlando nightclub shooter identified, here’s what we know

The identity of the shooter who committed, what appears to be, an act of radical Islamic terrorism at a Florida gay night club has been identified.

CBS has reported the terrorists identity as Omar Mateen. A 29-year-old from Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Mateen is an American citizen and his parents are of Afghan descent, according to CBS News.

Investigators are currently trying to trace his online footprint to see if there were any indications of his attack before it occurred.

CBS has reported the shooter had “sympathies” toward Islamic extremism.

BPR has uncovered a voter registration of a 29-year-old Omar Mir Seddique Mateen that shows he is a registered member of the Florida Democrat Party. BPR cannot confirm at this time that this is linked to the shooter.
