Former President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, is set to release a memoir this upcoming week, and according to a preview obtained by The Daily Beast, in it she reveals that her boss almost dropped out of the 2016 race.

Specifically, he mulled dropping out after the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape scandal broke, according to Conway’s upcoming memoir, “Here’s the Deal.”

“She writes that on the night of Oct. 8, 2016, in the secrecy of Trump Tower, she and Trump huddled around the corner from the elevator landing on the 24th floor to mull the future of his candidacy,” The Daily Beast reported Sunday.

“Trump had seen reports that the GOP ‘could force him off the ticket or hold a vote to expel him’ amid the fury over his ‘disgusting’ comments, captured on video a decade earlier, Conway wrote.”

“Should I get out?” the then-GOP presidential nominee asked Conway.

“You actually can’t, unless you want to forfeit and throw the whole damn thing to Hillary,” she replied.

“What do you mean I can’t?” a confused Trump responded.

She then explained that early voting had already begun.

“I know you don’t like to lose, but I also know you don’t like to quit,” Conway added.

Yet Trump remained doubtful, asking questions like, “Will I lose? Will we lose? Can we still win?”

“Conway said that at the time, she questioned whether Trump might be testing her, or if he was really second-guessing himself,” according to The Daily Beast.

Publicly, Trump maintained a demeanor of total confidence, telling The Wall Street Journal that there was “zero chance I’ll quit.”

“I never, ever give up. The support I’m getting is unbelievable, because Hillary Clinton is a horribly flawed candidate,” he said.

The remarks were made in response to the “Access Hollywood” crisis.

“Mr. Trump said the commotion over his remarks will blow over as it did in other instances, such as after his attacks on Sen. John McCain and his proposed ban on Muslims. About his sexually charged statements caught on tape, Mr. Trump said, ‘People get it. They get life,'” the Journal reported.

Publicly, Conway likewise did her part to defuse the crisis, reportedly telling CNN’s Dana Bash that Trump’s critics “should stop” referring to what he’d described as “sexual assault.”

Recall that in the “Access Hollywood” tape, he bragged that because of his wealth, women would allow him to grab their crotch.

Despite Conway’s public defense of Trump, behind the scenes she reportedly told him that his remarks were “disgusting” and “reprehensible.”

People magazine meanwhile has obtained a separate teaser from the book concerning Conway’s husband, notoriously anti-Trump former Lincoln Project member George Conway, and his habit of trash-talking her then-boss.

“Conway writes about the toll her husband’s habit of criticizing her boss on Twitter took on their marriage. In two exclusive excerpts from the book, which goes on sale Tuesday, she offers insight into the ordeal of being in the middle of public animosity between two men in her life, her husband and the president. She also shares anecdotes about finding support from other women working in the White House,” People reported Thursday.

In one excerpt, she describes her husband’s behavior as “cheating by tweeting.”

“I had already said publicly what I’d said privately to George: that his daily deluge of insults-by-tweet against my boss — or, as he put it sometimes, ‘the people in the White House’ — violated our marriage vows to ‘love, honor, and cherish’ each other,” the excerpt reads.

“Whoop-de-do, George! You are one of millions of people who don’t like the president. Congrats. But you are one of one whose wife is counselor to the president. You shouldn’t criticize me publicly. And when did you become so mean? That is so not you,” she told her husband at one point.

He responded by complaining about Trump again.

“George’s answers were always the same. Trump, Trump, Trump . . . The reflexive, obsessive, formulaic ‘but Trump’ slur that permeated half the Congress and half the country was now dominating half the Conway couple,” the excerpt continues.

“On one side was my marriage and my husband. On the other was my job and my boss. George was mixing the two of them in a highly combustible manner. I was able to keep these things separate and in perspective. George should have, too, but it seemed the flood of reaction and attention he was receiving was magnetic and irresistible.”

Indeed, thanks to his anti-Trump activism and his involvement with the since-disgraced Lincoln Project, her husband, an ostensible Republican, became a Democrat Party hero.

Both Conway and her husband eventually stepped out of the limelight, with Conway outright resigning from the Trump administration, after their daughter got caught up in the whiplash:

  1. That’s why I say we have no hope for change except by force. This country has been taken over by corrupt politicians for over 45 years. Everyone one that in government from the past 45 years has baggage. They all need to be put on trial and investigated.i do home work …..https://www.workbz.com

  2. That was the agenda of the BUSH DYNASTY. BUSH was threatened by a man that could think. W. and all the Bush’s are losers. How fortunate for us that Trump did not swallow the bait. Billy Bush would have made his die nasty so happy. W. is the ultimate in a stupid Republican and would have helped another Bush. God help us. Save us from the BUSHs.

  3. Again. WhyTF anyone west of Georgetown would buy these books is beyond me. Right OR Left.

    1. Hillary’s books were sent to China on pallets, as James comeys and a few other forgotten figures that have treason in their past behavior.

      1. Maybe/Probably. But why the ‘Joe The Plumbers’ of this country would BUY these is beyond me.

  4. I have no respect of Kelly, her husband helped the corrupt news rally against the best President ever, and she stayed with him and still worked for Trump????? She is a traitor and should have quit Trump and stayed with her low life fat husband who could not get a job with Trump.

    1. I’m surprised she didn’t dump the fat thing. Why would she stay with a traitor? I don’t believe everything she says, either. Why believe her?
