Wa-Po’s Jennifer Rubin beats out CNN’s Brian Stelter to win #HackMadness championship

After handedly marching her way through the “Liberal Activist” division of the 2022 “Liberal Hack Tournament” presented by the “Ruthless” podcast, number one seed and defending champion from The Washington Post, Jennifer Rubin managed to walk away victorious in the third annual event.

Rubin had notably surpassed blowhard Keith Olbermann to take the top spot in her division before facing off against MSNBC’s race hustler Joy Reid from the “Way-Too-Online” portion of the bracket. Though inaugural champion and “Fake News” top seeded Brian Stelter had made a dominant showing against “Establishment” champ Rick Wilson, there was no surpassing Rubin in the final matchup.

CNN’s Stelter, it seemed, had tried to mount a comeback this week during the University of Chicago’s “Disinformation and the Erosion of Democracy” conference when confronted by a freshman journalist from the Chicago Thinker named Christopher Phillips.

Phillips had pressed Stelter on his networks unchecked perpetuation of disinformation like Russian collusion and denial of the accuracy of Hunter Biden’s laptop when he asked, “All the mistakes of the mainstream media, and CNN in particular, seem to magically all go in one direction, are we expected to believe that this is all just some sort of random coincidence or is there something else behind it?”

“Too bad,” Stelter instinctively replied hoping for a buzzer beater, “time for lunch.”

The spectacular effort proved for naught as Rubin came out on top once again. It’s hard to say which “hacktastic” perspective may have clinched it for her, but she took the time to take a victory lap and perhaps lay the ground work in an effort to snag a “threepeat” come next years tournament.

“And this nomination is confirmed,” Rubin wrote of now Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Senate confirmation vote. “MY gosh. Sometimes this country does get it right…” she noted before taking a shot at Republican lawmakers.

During the White House ceremony to honor Jackson, Rubin kept going.

Her clean victory drew much celebration from those who witnessed the first successful title defense.

Lest the hard work she put in be forgotten, it’s important to note that Rubin’s dominance is a testament to her dedication to her craft. In the waning hours of the tournament, she made certain to express how “deeply worrying” President Joe Biden’s approval numbers were.

“Biden seems so insistent on ‘rising above the fray’ that he is doing little to protect his fellow Democrats in the upcoming midterms,” she said. “If he is still holding out for bipartisanship, he’s living in a different political universe.”

That’s correct, while claiming the U.S. economy was “extraordinary” with Biden at the helm and it would be “one of the most successful in history,” if it weren’t for inflation, she claimed the president was the one in a different universe.
