On behalf of Equal Pay Day, a fake holiday designed to raise awareness about the gender wage gap (which is a myth), President Joe Biden invited notoriously obnoxious female soccer player Megan Rapinoe to deliver a speech about how unfair her life allegedly is.
Speaking from the White House on Wednesday, Rapinoe unsurprisingly used the opportunity to rehash all the complaints she’s made over the years about how little she and her female cohorts are paid in contrast to their male counterparts.
“I’ve helped, along with all of my teammates virtually here today, one teammate literally here today, win four World Cup championships and four Olympic gold medals for the United States. And despite those wins, I’ve been devalued, I’ve been disrespected and dismissed because I am a woman, and I’ve been told that I don’t deserve any more than less because I am a woman,” she complained.
“You see, despite all the wins, I’m still paid less than men who do the same job that I do. For each trophy, of which there are many, and for each win, for each tie and for each time that we play, it’s less. And I know there are millions of people who are marginalized by gender in the world and experience the same thing in their jobs.”
Listen to her whole diatribe below:
Like with all her previous diatribes, everything she said appeared to be wrong or out of context.
Men’s soccer generates far more revenue than women’s soccer, and so because of the inexorable law of supply and demand, men soccer players are worth more than women soccer player. And this holds true for almost all sports.
“[I]n soccer and across most sports, men’s teams generate significantly more revenue than women’s teams. Pay-for-performance dictates that workers’ pay should reflect what they produce,” The Heritage Foundation notes.
If Rapinoe takes issue with this, then she may need to take it up with the universal laws of economics …

Another satire-not-satire piece from Babylon Bee. Rapinoe can demand equal pay all she wants, but until the public is willing to pay as much to see women’s soccer as it does to see men’s soccer, the pay inequity will continue. Simple as that, folks. Supply…. demand.

Part of the reason there may be more demand for men’s soccer versus women’s soccer may be because men are physically stronger and thus more capable.
That’s why a group of young boys under the age of 15 were so easily able to defeat the U.S. women’s national soccer team in 2017.
“In preparation for two upcoming friendlies against Russia, the U.S. women’s national team played the FC Dallas U-15 boys academy team on Sunday and fell 5-2,” CBS Sports reported at the time.
Rapinoe was among the losers.

Megan Rapinoe’s job isn’t playing soccer. It’s generating revenue. She generates revenue by playing soccer. She doesn’t generate NEARLY as much as the men, therefore she isn’t doing the same job.
Also men & women are different & she’s not good enough to play on a men’s team. 🤷🏼♀️

But like all Democrats, Biden has refused to acknowledge any of the actual facts that debunk the popular gender wage gap myth. In fact, to hear him tell it, men and women are absolutely the same in all ways.
“[T]here’s not a single thing a man can do that a woman can’t do as well or better, not a single thing,” he said during Wednesday’s briefing.
Listen:
His biologically inaccurate remark prompted some sarcastic replies and mockery, including one jab from classically liberal commentator Dave Rubin.
“So say you’re a man and play in the men’s league. Joe just said women are as good as men in everything. Cash in, Wokester!” he tweeted
See what he did there? Biden happens to believe that it’s perfectly OK for people who identify as transgender to play in sports leagues who don’t match their biological makeup. And so given this, given his belief in absolute biological equality and given also Rapinoe’s complaints about pay, why indeed doesn’t she just switch teams?

Critics also pounced on Rapinoe for complaining about her allegedly unfair life when she happens to be among the one percent of richest Americans.

Prayers up for Megan Rapinoe’s fiance who has an entire closet in their home dedicated to her collection of expensive sneakers.
It sure is a tough life for these poor undervalued multimillionaire sports stars.https://t.co/uAghg1GQ8W pic.twitter.com/jtl3AXkbut

Rapinoe has earned an estimated $3 to $3.5 million kicking soccer balls for a living and her fiance Sue Bird has raked in $5 to $8 million playing basketball.
Perhaps find someone who isn’t in the top .1% to champion this cause. https://t.co/6k0SdsLWdf

Rapinoe reportedly has a net worth of $3 million.
