Hollywood was hit with some sad news that didn’t have anything to do with sexual assault for a change.
Beloved actor John Hillerman, who played the role of Jonathan Quayle Higgins III, in the 1980’s mega-hit Magnum P.I. died on Thursday.
The Higgins character was a lot like his portrayal of Simon Brimmer, a snooty detective on the 1970s show “Ellery Queen.”
Hillerman received his first on-screen acting credit in 1971 in the Western “Lawman” and had 30 years of acting experience when he landed the role of Higgins on “Magnum P.I.”

The 84-year-old also appeared in “Simon & Simon” and “Murder, She Wrote” as the Higgins character, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
He also had credits in other hit TV shows like “One Day at a Time” and “The Betty White Show” and movies like “Blazing Saddles,” “History of the World: Part I,” “Chinatown,” and “A Very Brady Sequel.”
I am deeply saddened by the loss of my good friend John Hillerman. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as they mourn this loss. pic.twitter.com/5PM4gXqolt
