President Donald Trump said Susan Rice committed a crime and called it “the biggest story” in America.
“It’s such an important story for our country and the world,” President Trump said of the Rice scandal during a photo-op with King Abdullah II of Jordan in the Oval Office, according to the New York Times. “It is one of the big stories of our time.”
On Tuesday Rice told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that she did nothing wrong but, when asked by a reporter if she committed a crime, the president said he believed she did.
“Do I think?” he replied. “Yes, I think (she committed a crime).”
Earlier this week it was discovered that Rice was behind the unmasking of Trump transition team members who were caught in incidental surveillance.
The president also slammed mainstream media outlets for not covering the Rice story while praising Fox News and O’Reilly, whose show is losing advertisers in light of a sexual harassment scandal.
The president’s comments came a day after Rep. Scott DesJarlais said he believed Rice belongs in jail.
