San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick got some backing from an unlikely source – military veterans.
Since he decided to sit during the national anthem, to protest the “oppression” of black people, Kaepernick has received overwhelming backlash from people like Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, former Superbowl champion Burgess Owens, actor James Woods, a gold star mother who was deeply offended, fans who burned his jersey and even his own mother.
He has also gotten love from Black lives Matter supporters, singer Beyonce’s mother and the usual leftists.
But the most surprising support he has gotten has to be Tuesday’s top trending social media campaign #VeteransForKaepernick.
Don’t use my service–or that of any veteran–to justify the silencing of black Americans. Not on my watch. #VeteransForKaepernick

There were others who used the hashtag to express their disdain for the $119 million “oppressed” player.
We should all respect his right to sit, as well as our right to not watch his games. He’s an entertainer, not a hero. #VeteransForKaepernick

#VeteransForKaepernick Uh @jack – It’s getting sad, dude. These fictional “trending” hashtags used to be comical but now they’re pathetic.

I’m glad that #VeteransForKaepernick also fought so that people can use their freedom to say that he’s unpatriotic & disgusting for sitting.

Whatever you think of #VeteransForKaepernick, that he’d wear a Castro shirt while condemning perceived oppression is laughable.
