Does anyone believe the State Department’s excuse for giving Iran $400 million?

The Obama State Department wants the American people to rest assured that the $400 million dollars the U.S. paid Iran at the same time four American prisoners were released was just a coincidence and not a ransom.

State Dept. spokesman John Kirby said Tuesday the money was part of a decades old dispute over an arms deal and had nothing to do with the release of the prisoners.

“The negotiations over the [arms deal] settlement … were completely separate from the discussions about returning our American citizens home. Not only were the two negotiations separate, they were conducted by different teams on each side,” he said.

“The funds that were transferred to Iran were related solely to the settlement of a long-standing claim at the U.S.-Iran Claims Tribunal at The Hague.”

That would have to be one heck of a coincidence.

Social media wasn’t buying it.
