Donald Trump supporter Rudy Giuliani finally explained why he hadn’t officially endorsed Trump for president — just before he did.

“Why not endorse him?” Megyn Kelly asked the former New York City mayor on Fox News’ “The Kelly File” on Monday.

“Because I’m not part of the campaign.,” he said. “I don’t want anybody to think that I am an official in the campaign… It doesn’t require any obligation on my part to have to defend every single thing they do.”

Kelly said no one thinks that people who endorse are officially part of the campaign.

“There is no question I believe he is by far the best candidate,” he said of Trump.

“I worked for Ronald Reagan and I agreed with Ronald Reagan eight out of 10 times, and that was enough and I love him” he said. “And I agree with Trump about eight out of 10 times, and he’s also been a friend for 25 years, and I trust him.”

On Tuesday, with a little pushing, CNN’s Chris Cuomo finally got Giuliani to commit to an undeniable endorsement with one specification.

“It doesn’t make sense to me that you are going to vote for Trump but you won’t endorse him,” Cuomo said.

“OK, so I endorse him but I’m not part of the campaign,” he replied.
