If Donna Brazile thought she was going to attack Hillary Clinton and come out unscathed she was mistaken.
After the newest Brazile revelation, in which she claimed that she considered replacing Clinton in the presidential election with former Vice President Joe Biden, team Hillary has fired back with both barrels.
The major players on the Clinton campaign hit her with an open letter in which they blamed Russia and essentially called Brazile a liar.
“We were shocked to learn the news that Donna Brazile actively considered overturning the will of the Democratic voters by attempting to replace Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine as the Democratic Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees. It is particularly troubling and puzzling that she would seemingly buy into false Russian-fueled propaganda, spread by both the Russians and our opponent, about our candidate’s health,” they said in the letter published Saturday, signed by more than 100 Clinton staffers.
“She is a longtime friend and colleague of many of us and has been an important leader in our party,” it read. “But we do not recognize the campaign she portrays in the book.”
They signers, who included longtime Clinton friend, and campaign vice chair Huma Abedin, campaign manager Robby Mook and chairman John Podesta called Clinton’s defeat to President Donald Trump “devastating” before they took another shot at Brazile.
“We are pretty tired of people who were not part of our campaign telling the world what it was like to be on the inside of our campaign and how we felt about it,” they said.
The former director of Hillary For America, Adrienne Elrod, was more direct on Friday when she responded to Brazile’s accusation that Clinton and the Democrat National Committee rigged the primaries for Clinton on MSNBC.
MSNBC anchor Katy Tur asked Elrod if she thought “Donna Brazile is lying when she said that Hillary Clinton demanded control over who did communications, that Hillary Clinton demanded control over how the money was spent.”
The short answer was “yes.”
“I think if she’s implying that that took place during the primary, absolutely,” Elrod said. “Did we have control of the party during the general? Absolutely, and that’s what happens when you become the nominee of your party.”
On Saturday Ed Klein, the author of “All Out War: The Plot to Destroy Trump” told “Fox & Friends” that he spoke to sources close to former President Obama who said Brazile has no future with the Democrats.
“Donna Brazile, according to my sources, Barack Obama says she’s finished in the Democratic Party. That she’ll never get another job, and probably never get another gig at CNN either,” he said.
She better sell a ton of books.
