The devastation of Hurricane Harvey and the impending bombardment of Hurricane Irma is all your fault, President Donald Trump voters.
Actress Jennifer Lawrence offered that pearl of wisdom during an interview with the U.K.’s Channel 4 to promote her new movie “Mother!”
“I mean when the director was asked about the film, why it was so dark, he said, ‘It’s a mad time to be alive.’ And there is certainly an end of days feeling about it. For many people, in America who would say, [grimaces] perhaps it’s truer there at the moment than anywhere else,” the reporter said to Lawrence.
And she happily took the bait.
“It’s scary,” she said. “You know, it’s this new language that’s forming, I don’t even recognize it. It’s also scary to know, that climate change is due to human activity, and we continue to ignore it, and the only voice that we really have is through voting.”
“And you have voted very recently, as a country,” the interviewer said.
Lawrence said the vote “was really startling,” and insinuated that she believed the natural disasters, were “mother nature” exacting revenge on America for electing President Trump.
“You know you’re watching these hurricanes now, and it’s really hard especially while promoting this movie, not to feel mother nature’s rage and wrath,” at the president’s election, she said, apparently unaware that hurricanes have been happening for thousands of years.
Lawrence said she didn’t have a ton of hope for her country with President Trump in charge and that her new movie reflects that.
“I have to feel hope, you know you have to feel hope. You can’t just fall into despair. But a producer on the movie called this film, ‘an impotent howl of rage.’ It’s like a helpless howl to the moon, like, it’s just an assault,” she said.
Lawrence has been an outspoken opponent of the president, to the point that she told Johnny Depp that she wanted to kill him when she watched him parody President Trump. Yet, she doesn’t like the “language” being spoken by hardworking, blue-collar Trump voters. Got it.
