Strange love: Brooklyn councilwoman smooched by random man during live interview

One could file this incident under “crimes of passion.”

Brooklyn Councilwoman Inna Vernikov was accosted by a loving thief, looking to steal a kiss as the cameras rolled. During a live interview with CBS New York reporter Hannah Kliger, the random man leaned in quickly to deliver a peck on her cheek.

Watch:

Jokes aside, being randomly kissed by a stranger is incredibly unsettling, especially in high-crime New York where anything could happen. Vernikov appeared to joke about the incident on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying “Not the kind of love I’d expect from constituents!” However she later described the moment as “creepy.” It’s unclear whether a romantic pair of silver bracelets are in the kissy-faced bandit’s future, but the NYPD claims that they have not received any type of report about the incident from the victim.

New York City Councilwoman Lynn Schulman issued a full-throated condemnation of the man’s actions.

“This is abhorrent and disgusting Hope the assailant is found. Sadly, this type of unacceptable behavior typically happens to women, even in 2023. Am standing with you [Inna Vernikov].”
