Trump makes eleventh-hour endorsement of Rep. Mike Collins in crucial GOP runoff for Senate

President Donald Trump on Sunday endorsed Republican Georgia Rep. Mike Collins for the Republican runoff to challenge Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff.

Collins and former football coach Derek Dooley are set to face each other in the June 16 runoff. Trump posted his endorsement of Collins on Truth Social two days after early voting ended.

“It is my Great Honor to endorse ‘MAGA’ Mike Collins, a Highly Respected Congressman who has been with me from the very beginning, and is running for the United States Senate in Georgia, a very special place to me, and where we just had a BIG Presidential Election Win with the Most Votes Received by any single Candidate in Georgia’s History, for any Election,” Trump wrote. “Mike is strongly supported by the most Highly Respected MAGA Patriots in Georgia and beyond, and many Republicans in the U.S. House and Senate — He is a WARRIOR and WINNER!”

“A very successful Businessman prior to becoming a distinguished U.S. Congressman, Mike has brilliantly served his Community, during a career loaded with accolades and wins, always fighting tirelessly for our America First Agenda,” Trump continued. “As your next Senator, Mike will continue to work hard to Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Champion American Energy DOMINANCE, Strengthen our incredible Military/Veterans, Advance Election Integrity, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Murderers, and other Criminals from illegally entering our Country, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.”

Collins was a prominent supporter of the Laken Riley Act, which Trump signed into law on Jan. 29, 2025. It requires illegal aliens to be held by federal authorities if they are accused of theft.

Trump also took aim at Dooley in his lengthy post.

“Mike has to beat a Republican Opponent before he gets to Ossoff. I don’t know Derek Dooley, and neither does anyone else, but he seems like a nice person,” Trump posted. “Unfortunately, he has lived outside of Georgia for most of his life, didn’t vote in 2020 or 2016, and said that I lost Georgia in 2020 when, in actuality, the facts have now proven that I won by a lot!”
