Gingrich slams Biden for focus on ‘gender-affirming care’ for minors amid rising crime, inflation

As Americans fight to survive skyrocketing crime levels, chaos at the southern border, and record inflation, President Biden and his administration carved out time to meet with a radical lifestyle activist, sparking rancor from one former Speaker of the House who says the President “doomed” Democrats’ midterm dreams.

“You really must wonder what the White House staff is thinking,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich wrote in an op-ed for Fox News. “There are only weeks before the midterm elections, which will either keep Joe Biden’s and the Washington Democrats’ agenda on life support — or shut it down completely.”

Gingrich was shocked that Biden and his team would carve out time within weeks of the election to sit down with a transgender TikTok creator for a chat on a topic that 70 percent of American disagree with.

“The American people are deeply concerned about the cost of gas and groceries, crime in the streets, and chaos at the southern border (which their agenda has caused),” Gingrich said. “So, the White House staff scheduled Biden to meet with a radical lifestyle activist who represents a movement with which most Americans disagree.”

Biden met with Dylan Mulvaney, a 25-year-old TikTok creator with 8.3 million followers who is documenting their journey from boy to girl on “Days of Girlhood.” Mulvaney, who is planning to get gender reassignment surgery in December, isn’t without controversy. The TikToker participated in a digital Ulta Beauty campaign earlier this month with gender-fluid celebrity hairstylist David Lopez and, said as a woman, she is able to find love, be a performer and even a mother, causing a firestorm from feminists who accused Mulvaney of wearing womanhood as a costume.

Ulta was forced to respond to the backlash, claiming “beauty has no boundaries” and “at Ulta Beauty, we believe that beauty is for everyone — and we kindly request that everyone be treated with respect on our channels. And while we recognize some conversations we host will challenge perspectives and opinion, we believe constructive dialogue is one important way to move beauty forward. The intersectionality of gender identity is nuanced, something David and Dylan acknowledge themselves within the episode. Regardless of how someone identifies, they deserve our respect.”

If a beauty brand faced backlash for an association with the controversial influencer, the president’s meeting left many wondering if his obsession with “gender-affirming care” hasn’t “doomed” Democrats’ slim chances of holding onto power after the midterm elections.

“It’s day 222 of being a girl. I’m in Washington D.C., and I’m going to the White House to speak to the President of the United States,” Mulvaney posted on TikTok Thursday. “And the fact that our president has watched ‘Days of Girlhood’ – it’s kind of epic.”

While Mulvaney described the meeting as “epic,” those struggling to make ends meet as inflation chokes their pocketbooks found the president’s priorities a slap in the face, Gingrich said.

“So, here we have the embattled Democrats deciding that the key to the election is not securing the border, locking up criminals, bringing inflation under control, or meeting the nation’s education crisis,” the “Contract with America” author said. “The key to winning is meeting with a transgender activist on TikTok and supporting transgenderism.”

Not only did Biden waste valuable face time by allocating such a large chunk to a fringe topic, but he also violated parental rights by advocating for and adding legitimacy to a dangerous trend among today’s youth. With 63 percent of American children ages 12 to 17 active on the Chinese-owned platform, Biden’s audience wasn’t voters and the majority of American parents do not condone invasive gender change surgery.

“A recent survey done for America’s New Majority Project found that 62 percent of Americans believe it is ‘never appropriate’ to discuss gender changing with children in K-12 schools,” Gingrich wrote. “An overwhelming 80 percent say parents should be notified in advance of such discussions – and allowed to opt their children out of gender discussions.”

Gingrich cited additional statistics from the survey, including 59 percent of Americans think it should be illegal to provide puberty blockers or gender-changing surgery to minors, 56 percent believe gender transition surgery on children is a form of child abuse, and 60 percent believe a teacher or school encouraging students to change their gender identity is engaged in child abuse.

“Given these overwhelming numbers, what was the White House staff thinking?” Gingrich asked. “Even beyond the issue of transgenderism itself, think about how out-of-touch this made Biden look. The image of President Biden and Dr. Jill Biden sitting and watching ‘Days of Girlhood’ while inflation soars, crime reigns, and our children’s futures crumble is one of those images that doom elections. It could rival Michael Dukakis rising in the tank or John Kerry windsurfing.”

Maybe the move was calculated by staff who know Biden can’t campaign for Democratic candidates with hard numbers and party successes, Gingrich speculated.

“My hunch is this was an act of desperation,” he wrote. “The White House staff members aren’t stupid. They know they can’t talk about the economy, crime, the border, education, or any other crisis – because Americans just won’t believe them.”

“They had two years to implement their agenda – and they did,” Gingrich said. “Their problem is: Their agenda doesn’t work.”
