Back in March of 2021, former President Donald Trump sat with The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman — a known anti-Trump “journalist” — for three separate interviews.
Why? Nobody knows. What is now known, thanks to an excerpt from Haberman’s upcoming Trump-themed book that was published Sunday, is that the president allegedly thinks very negatively of some of his top Republican colleagues.
These include Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell, former Vice President Mike Pence, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Congratulations to @maggieNYT on publication of her excerpt from “The Confidence Man,” which comes out next week. Looking forward to reading it! https://t.co/ZDMjAxR3c6

Regarding McConnell, for instance, Trump allegedly complained to Haberman about him not being tough like Meade Esposito, a former Brooklyn Democrat Party leader known for ruling “with an iron fist.”
“Well, I figured that the Mitch McConnells would be like him, in the sense of strength,” the former president allegedly said.
“The Old Crow’s a piece of shit,” he later allegedly added.
Regarding Pence, Trump seemingly allegedly seemed to admit that he still resents the former VP’s decision to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election.
“I said, ‘Mike, you have a chance to be Thomas Jefferson, or you can be Mike Pence.’ He chose to be Mike Pence,” Trump said to Haberman.
Regarding DeSantis, Trump allegedly trash-talked the hell out of him, or so Haberman claims to have heard.
“I heard that Trump was describing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in similar terms, calling him ‘fat,’ ‘phony,’ and ‘whiny,’ while claiming credit for making his candidacy in 2018,” she wrote in the excerpt published Sunday.
That being said, the former president is now facing a bit of backlash from Haberman’s reporting. Not only because of his alleged criticism of DeSantis, but also because of his dalliance with Haberman herself, not to mention with National Review, an anti-Trump outlet.
Haberman explained in the excerpt that in the spring of 2021, Trump reached out to National Review in hopes of convincing them to publish a report about him being reinstated that August.
“I learned in the spring that Trump was repeating a claim from one of his most vocal allies, the self-made pillow-company CEO Mike Lindell, that Trump would be reinstated as president by August 2021. Trump liked the idea, telling aides he did not want to have to sit through another three and a half years of a Biden presidency,” she wrote.
“He quietly encouraged some conservative writers to publicize the idea in their own voices, telling the National Review editor Rich Lowry as well that he anticipated being reinstated by August 2021. Trump encouraged Lowry to write about it, saying it could help the magazine.”
Critics say that it makes zero sense for Trump to be trying to court attention and “likes” from Haberman and National Review:
So not only did Trump meet with Haberman several times — he went begging to National Review for good coverage, the conservative magazine most vehemently opposed to the America First mandate given to Trump by supporters. There is something pathological about this. https://t.co/LM34nvQKto pic.twitter.com/cI5u6cWrsH

Trump has a desire to be liked by his enemies, which is why he can’t crush them.

>why did Trump repeatedly meet with New York Times journalist and CNN shill Maggie Haberman to seek her approval and why did he beg the absolute worst conservative magazine that hates him and his entire movement to like him?

Hard to destroy the liberal world order when you are literally offering to help improve magazine and newspaper sales for the ideological organs upholding that order against all threats, including your own movement

It doesn’t help that Trump was allegedly extremely happy about being interviewed by Haberman.
“[H]e turned to the two aides he had sitting in on our interview, gestured toward me with his hand, and said, ‘I love being with her, she’s like my psychiatrist,'” Haberman wrote at one point in her excerpt.
However, there’s a catch: Namely Haberman’s history of dubious reporting. In another excerpt published earlier this year, for example, Habermean claimed that Trump had sometimes clogged the White House’s toilets while flushing classified documents down them.
This claim was challenged by Trump’s spokesperson, Taylor Budowich.
“We know there’s enough people willing to fabricate stories like this in order to impress the media class–a media class who is willing to run with anything, as long as [it’s] anti-Trump,” Budowich said to Axios.
In fact, despite Haberman claiming Trump enjoyed his time with her, he’s been railing against her book since day one:
NEW!
President Donald J. Trump:
“Yet another fake book, by a reporter who knows nothing about me, Maggot Haberman of the New York Times, is making up stories about my relationship with foreign leaders. She claims I speak with Kim Jong Un of North Korea,… pic.twitter.com/MnrguiZ1AN

And so based on all this, there may be little reason to believe Haberman’s latest “reporting” …
