A new “parents council” initiative by the US Department of Education suggests that the Biden administration is looking for ways to reach an accommodation with irate parents, after CRT and lockdown efforts in schools across the nation sparked a violent backlash in the form of rallies, protests, and a mass exodus from public schools.

The Department of Education on Tuesday launched something called the “National Parents and Families Engagement Council,” according to Fox News, which is designed to effect a rapprochement between alienated parents and schools. The council will allow parents to “constructively participate in their children’s education,” while at the same time creating “strong and effective relationships” between families and schools.

But don’t expect everything to be hunky-dory. The council, reportedly, will comprise representatives from “national organizations”— and it’s a safe bet that none of these organizations will stray very far from a left-wing ideological orientation. The representatives are then supposed to work with the Department of Education to find “constructive ways” for families to engage with their schools at the local level, Fox News noted. In other words, the council is designed to put an end to any effective grassroots organizing of anti-CRT and anti-lockdown protests at school board meetings.

“Parents are a child’s first teachers, and there’s no one better equipped to work with schools and educators to identify what students need to recover,” explained Education Secretary Miguel Cardona.

“The National Parents and Families Engagement Council will serve as an important link between families, caregivers, education advocates and their school communities.”

Moreover, Cardona explained, the council will work to “foster a collaborative environment where we can work together to serve the best interest of students and ensure they have the academic and mental health support they need to recover from the pandemic and thrive in the future.” The Department of Education added that the council will act as a “channel for parents and families to constructively participate in their children’s education by helping them understand the rights they have.”

Parents seemed to have no trouble understanding their rights when they protested the invasive creep of leftist CRT instruction into their children’s curricula, but that’s clearly not the kind of “constructive participation” the Education Department is interested in. The Department also explained that organizations chosen to represent parents on the council will “reflect the diversity of the education system, including, but not limited to, families of students in public schools, charters, private schools, and homeschool.”

The announcement of this council comes as parents have rallied against the heavy-handed actions of school districts across the country, which have implemented COVID measures and controversial educational programs (such as the aforementioned CRT-inflected coursework) without the input or consent of parents.

The result was a spectacular backlash, in which parents suddenly became far more engaged in their local school district’s activities than was welcome by the sort of people who rely on widespread indifference and disinterest to implement left-wing policies. For one thing, parents objected to the lack of input they had when it came to in-person versus remote learning during the pandemic; and the stealthy admission of CRT and transgender propaganda into school curricula did not go unnoticed.

The new council and the Education Department are expected to meet in the coming weeks.
