Man whose wife was murdered by illegal immigrant slams sanctuary laws: Magnet for migrants who don’t want to work

A man whose wife was allegedly murdered in New Mexico about three years ago by an illegal alien is understandably taking a dim view of sanctuary cities that are non-compliant with federal immigration law and thus become a magnet for criminals.

In November 2019, Albuquerque resident Jacqueline Vigil was tragically shot and killed while sitting in her car in her own driveway as she was on the way to the gym. Vigil, then 55, was the mother of two state police officers.

In response to a question from “Fox & Friends First” co-host Todd Piro about the open-borders, catch-and-release, deportation-averse Biden’s administration policy of transporting adult illegal aliens into the interior of the U.S., often in a stealth manner, Vigil’s husband weighed in on Thursday morning in the video clip embedded above.

“For me, it just reminds me about what happened to me, to my wife, who was murdered back in 2019 by an alleged illegal immigrant that was in the country. It just brings back all those memories,” Sam Vigil said.

“Of course, it brings back the idea of sanctuary state as well as the sanctuary city, and Albuquerque is one of them. I think that having policies like those that are being proposed only attracts even more criminals to come out and especially target sanctuary states and sanctuary cities where laws are soft, and actually, in my opinion, protect a lot of those individuals that come here not to work, but rather to commit crimes,” he added.

According to Piro, the Biden administration is currently sending illegal migrants to cities such as Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, and Vigil’s hometown of Albuquerque (the administration has also been caught flying migrants in the middle of the night to Westchester County, New York).

Piro wondered how the influx of illegal migrants to Albuquerque, in particular, would affect the local community.

“Well, again, I think it would mean that we would have policies that actually protect individuals that maybe shouldn’t be in this country, and like I said before when you have soft laws, criminals are attracted and want to go there because they feel safe, they feel that nobody will bother them, they would not be turned over to immigration, so they have pretty much a free hand, get-out-of-jail-free card type of thing,” Vigil replied.

The suspect in the Vigil case reportedly had been deported multiple times. He is set to go on trial for murder in September 2022 in an  Albuquerque court and is currently in federal custody.

In November 2020, the Albuquerque Journal reported that “The case gained national attention when Jacqueline Vigil’s husband, Sam Vigil, and sons attended a press conference at the White House and President Donald Trump announced the case would be included in the federal crime fighting initiative, Operation Legend.”

In the meantime, a massive caravan of illegal aliens is heading north. Immigration authorities under Biden apparently have no idea how to respond to the law enforcement, national security, humanitarian, and potential public health crisis at the border, or no inclination to restore border security that was in effect under the Trump administration.

The U.S-Mexico border has devolved into a region that is under the effective control of drug-and-human-smuggling cartels. Apart from just abandoning enforcement in favor of mere processing, and thus throwing open the border to the world, the administration seems to have no plan other than VP Kamala Harris giving lip service to addressing so-called root causes in Central America.

Since taking power, the Biden bureaucracy has allowed millions of undocumented persons to pour into the U.S., with the taxpayer picking up the tab.

As BPR has reported about the Biden border catastrophe, those among the caravan are allegedly demanding that the president repeal Title 42, the COVID-era measure that allows the government to turn away asylum-seekers over health concerns.

The health policy has been a useful tool for the Border Patrol, which has reportedly invoked the measure to summarily expel almost two million illegals without adjudicating asylum claims.

  1. I am sick and tired of seeing articles calling Cri minals that are crossing our borders Immigrants and Migrants. The term Migrant implies that at some point, like after a harvest, they will go back to where ever they came from, this Is NOT Happening they are here to star as long as the Democrats/Leftists/Liberals/Socialists keep handing out all of the Free-Shit. These people are now and have always been ILLEGAL ALIENS. In this WOKE age of Correct Pronouns, it is time that we use the Correct Noun and it’s associated Adjective. They are ILLEGAL ALIENS.

    1. As angry as I am about them not being called ILLEGAL ALIENS I get a little crazy when I read that they are “demanding” anything. WTF – I demand you NOT be allowed in MY country.

    2. How much of the “free” cash these INVADERS get is being sent “back home”? For that matter, how many of those INVADERS would come here, let alone stay here, if we were to get laws passed that denied ANY government freebies to INVADERS.
