Box of loaded guns found on school campus in Parkland Fla- they were left by school principal!

With the nation on edge following last week’s bloody slaughter of 19 young children and their teachers at a Texas elementary school, authorities in Parkland, Florida were given a scare when a box with loaded guns was discovered on a local school campus but fortunately, they were determined to belong to the school’s principal.

The box which contained two firearms was found on Thursday at Somerset Academy which is near Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School, the scene of the 2018 mass shooting carried out by a former student who murdered 17 people in another one of the inexplicable rampages that underscore the nation’s growing mental health crisis.

A school resource officer for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office secured the guns which, after an investigation, were found to belong to Geyler Castro, the charter school’s principal, and were inadvertently taken onto the premises.

According to a report by the South Florida Sun Sentinel, “The school’s governing agency said in a statement Friday that the two guns were in a closed box that was unloaded at the school, along with other items, for the principal. The box with the guns was unintentionally unloaded at the school, the statement said.”

“The box was put in a locked room that students and teachers could not access, but someone still found it. School staff ‘were unaware of the contents of the closed box,’ according to the statement, and no students were in danger,” the outlet reported. “‘The School Resource Officer was immediately notified. The officer secured the area and called police. BSO Parkland police investigated the matter and determined there was no threat,’ the statement said.”

“No one intended to bring a weapon into the building. The box was among many items brought into the locked room from the principal’s vehicle,” the Sun Sentinel reported.

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our students, staff, and school community,” the statement said, according to local outlet WPLG, telling families that the school  “strives to maintain open lines of communication.”

“Possessing firearms on school property is a felony in Florida, according to Florida Statute 790. However, according to the statute, “a person may carry a firearm in a vehicle pursuant to s. 790.25(5); except that school districts may adopt written and published policies that waive the exception in this subparagraph for purposes of student and campus parking privileges.” Firearms may not be taken out of the vehicle or into a school building,” WPLG reported.

Miami’s 7 News asked parents of children who attended the school if they were alerted about the guns found on the campus.

“I mean I didn’t hear anything,” said parent Jincy Mathews.

Matthews was shocked when told that the guns belonged to the school’s principal, “What the heck?” she said. “Oh, my God.”

“It’s scary. What you’re telling me is scary,” Mathews said.

The State Attorney has not yet determined whether Castro will be charged; no students came into contact with the loaded guns.

  1. The law says it is illegal unless the school district has an exemption. Did they or is this going to be just another case of a principal being a felon and sweeping it all under the rug?

  2. The principal and vice should be required to carry a loaded gun while on school property.

  3. This is all about diversion ,scare tactics, hysteria, concur and devide .
Mid terms a coming and these bastards are shitting their pants .
Happened with Obama ass , loot ,murder & burn ,Diversion.
That’s what these bastards do , and cheat ,steal elections.
    Fk them all.

  4. The headline of this story is click-bait if I’ve ever seen such. NOTHING of substance within the article justifies the headline. “Principal of Florida school was found to have 2 guns safely locked away on campus” would have been a more accurate headline. THAT wouldn’t garner a single reader though; would it???

  5. Good for the Principle. Guns should be mandatory on campus, “gun free” zones kill! I can’t believe the State of Florida still has “gun free” zones, any sane person knows they make shootings more likely to happen!!!

  6. So what. This principal should have been in Uvalde. Someone has to protect the children. The police didn’t.

  7. After wrestling with this mass shooter problem for years, I just realized, as is so often the case, the answer is right under our noses. And…the democrats are here to help. In as much as I have ascertained, that in none of the mass shooting cases, was a girl the perp, the answer is get rid of the boys. The democrats are already starting at age 5, to turn your little boy into a caring, mixed up, girl. So….if we let them have their way, the mass shooter issue will disappear.

  8. Considering that the firearms were legally in the vehicle of the principal and accidentally moved inside the school with other boxes, this article should NEVER have been published. This isn’t news. It is leftist propaganda. All laws making schools “Gun Free Zones” need to be REPEALED. Making any location a “gun free zone” is an invitation to the mentally disturbed looking to carry out a mass shooting to “come on in because we cannot shoot back”. Any Gun Free Zone is nothing more than a KILLING FIELD where the criminal is guaranteed the utmost safety.

  9. If I worked at a school, I would be armed. As we can all see the police and the politicians won’t protect schools!

  10. The principal, and every principal, should have a loaded gun, and should be carrying it on his/her belt! Extra bullets in his office should be required, and yearly shooting test proving that a target can be hit.

  11. How remarkable for ALL those “mistakes” to happen AND AND AND the news media was alerted to them. Really? I smell a rat. Not to mention, my local Amazon driver can’t read house numbers, not surprised something was delivered that should not have been.

  12. When you think of what has happened in schools over the past years and some states are allowing teachers to have hand guns in schools with [training]will be a common thing in the very near future. We lock up guns in our homes safely. If there was a bad happening in a school with other people around axcess to a LONG RIFLE is much better to end the threat than a hand gun. A level headed TRAINED person with a firearm when the fox is feeding in the hen house. We need more people to run to the fire than run away and vid it. When there is a problem you attack it head on and solve it not call it an [issue] and talk about it and not solve the PROBLEM.

  13. A couple of problems here obviously. If you are the principal and need items removed from Your car and you are well aware you have firearms in your vehicle 1) You had better supervise your help with the removal of said items or 2) remove said items yourself since You know witch box contains firearms. I have no issue with the principal having the firearms in his possession responsibly or even packing. When seconds count police are minutes away and as we have seen taking action may take even more time. Having someone else unload items from your car was irresponsible. Mrs Matthews should not be shocked that the students principal may be the one to step in harms way to save the life of her child

  14. I did not like the Head Line. The fact that they were in a box does not mean a box of guns. If you say they found a box containing two guns, that is the correct way, your way is sensationalism to get people to read this when a box to me means a lot more than 2 guns. I feel if this teacher brought these in by accident, he should not own a gun. Anyone else they would not believe.

  15. Wow. right near where one of the worst school shootings in US history occurred? Very suspicious! Students didn’t seem to have a lot of confidence that it was “accidental” either…

  16. How to hell do you “inadvertently” take loaded weapons into a school? OH GOSH! I forgot they were there!

    1. Response by principal should have been, Yes, they are mine and I know how to use them”

    2. They were in a closed box and other boxes were to be taken into the school. It is apparent that it was not the principal who unloaded his vehicle. Someone, unknowingly, carried in a box that should have been left in the vehicle
