Biden’s visit to Uvalde on Sunday stoking ‘a lot of outrage’

As the grieving parents of murdered children mourn their dead, a circus atmosphere has descended upon Uvalde with media hordes swarming the town and President Joe Biden paying a visit which at least some people are not thrilled about.

Biden’s sickening politicizing of his previous visit to the site of a mass shooting in Buffalo was a disrespectful and divisive moment at a time when he chose not to call for national healing but rather to engage in race-baiting and demonizing of his political foes. And with Democrats clamoring for harsh new gun restrictions, there was a wariness that he would similarly exploit the tragedy in Texas.

During Sunday’s edition of CNN’s “Reliable Sources” with Brian Stelter, the host talked with Stella Chavez, a reporter who covers immigration and demographics for North Texas NPR outlet KERA News who was on the ground in Uvalde, but her response likely wasn’t what CNN’s chief media correspondent had in mind.

“Let’s go to Stella who’s in Uvalde today and as we go to you Stella, President Biden has just landed on Air Force One in San Antonio and is about to helicopter toward where you are,” Stelter said, “does it matter at all Stella, that President Biden is going there? Do the families you’re talking to, do they care? Do they want to hear from the president? Will anything help?”

“Thanks, Brian for having me on,” answered Chavez. “I think it depends on who you ask, I think that for the most part the families who were affected want to focus on their loved ones who were killed, and I think having the leader of our country come here and express, you know, his condolences is important to them but I also know, I’ve heard people say you know, now is not the time for him to come here.”

“Why is that?” Stelter asked incredulously.

Chavez responded, “Well, I think some people are worried… are concerned about politicizing this event and there, I’ve heard a lot of outrage from people, but I’ve also heard from folks who say, you know, I don’t want to focus on that, on what could have happened, what should’ve happened, I just want to focus on the kids.”

“So, I mean I would just say, it depends on who you ask, but I do think it’s significant that he’s coming here and especially so soon after another, you know, similar trip, you know, to Buffalo where a horrible mass shooting also happened.”

Biden drew much criticism over his similar visit to Buffalo and his divisive rant at a memorial for the victims who were gunned down by another 18-year-old maniac at the Tops Supermarket, only serving to stoke more racial rage.

“What happened here is simple and straightforward: terrorism. Terrorism. Domestic terrorism. Violence inflicted in the service of hate and a vicious thirst for power that defines one group of people being inherently inferior to any other group,” Biden said. “A hate that through the media and politics, the internet, has radicalized angry, alienated, lost, and isolated individuals into falsely believing that they will be replaced — that’s the word, ‘replaced’ — by the ‘other’ — by people who don’t look like them and who are therefore, in a perverse ideology that they possess and being fed, lesser beings.”

On Sunday, Biden refrained from the type of angry demagoguery that he used in Buffalo, maintaining good behavior at least while he was in Uvalde where he respectfully paid tribute to the dead and comforted their families.

During his visit, Biden reportedly told a local lawmaker that he would support razing Robb Elementary which would be replaced with another school.

In an interview with San Antonio’s KSAT-TV, Democrat Texas state Sen. Roland Gutierrez who represents Uvalde said he was told by Biden, “we’re going to look to raze that school and build a new one.”

Biden did not speak with the media while he was in Uvalde.

  1. Could Biden see the Southern border from Uvalde? If so, he can check that off his ‘to do’ list.

  2. He had ALREADY lectured on gun control. That was his first response on hearing of the tragedy, not the MURDERED children, not the mentally ill 18 year old killer who had a long history of problems, NO, Bidet’s first response was to be IRATE over the right to own guns. I agree Assault Weapons need to be REMOVED except for special forces and military NO ONE else has access to them.

Biden has successfully turned decades of democrat followers in Black and Hispanic communities against the Democrats. GOOD for him. At least he’s done ONE thing that was good.

    1. Assault weapons are not allowed to be owned by citizens, only for the military. Stop contributing to the confusion.

  3. Notice that Joey didn’t jump on his “white supremacy” bandwagon. I wonder why that is?

    1. Because this murderer of 19 kids and 3 adults was a latino, as were most of the victims, most of the police force and the chief of police in command at the scene who decided to do nothing for an hour. There’s nothing in it for scumbag Biden to go after latinos, so this time he went after the NRA. He’s an evil racist pig.

  4. Uh oh. Biden doesn’t really know Texas. You just can’t showboat your way around town in your fancy suit and sunglasses and make big promises that you cannot keep. Biden moves like molasses on a snowy day, so what is going to put a fire under his bony old derriere? Uvalde votes predominantly Republican. They are what is best about Texas. Hardworking people who simply want to enjoy their jobs, their families, and friends. In a big Texas way, Uvalde citizens’ lives are guided by their faith on a deep level. Uvalde gave the abortion-loving, oil-hating Yankee President a chance. We will be watching the Prevaricator in Chief to keep his word in a timely fashion. One should not pledge something that one cannot accomplish- unless you think you are talking to children or idiots. We will be watching.

  5. Six “you knows” in a short interview. I love how the media is diluted with incompetence,

  6. It was really nice pf the President to not talk about the time he survived a mass shooting and tackled the shooter all by himself, like that one time at band camp…..

    1. It’s amazing what Americans will tolerate. Some say we got the President we deserved.

      1. Nope, we were FORCED to accept the president “They” (the invisible people Biden takes orders from) pushed upon us through multiple methods of rigging the votes. VOTE IN PERSON WITH ID

    2. Thank you for the laugh! I really enjoyed this comment! If he’d thought of it he would have tried to spin that story.. such as ….. When I was a boy on Amtrak hiking in the Himalayas I saw a school and the school had this open door and the shooter was there and I hiked up the mountain to get to my friend the Amtrak guy and Hunter was with me we stopped at 7 11 and got slurpees and ………

  7. So, so close to the southern border. Yet, he refuses to go. Go for the illegal children flooding our borders. SO CLOSE. NO CIGAR.

  8. bidump is stoking nothing but hate and division. What a sad excuse for a president!

  9. Unfortunately, Biden can’t help himself because this is all about him and not the poor parents grieving their dead children. He won’t go to the border why Uvalde? I hope the residents realize this president could care less about them and only the image he is trying to portray. Midterms will hopefully change this….
