The Green agenda of newly reelected globalist French President Emmanuel Macron as well as the socialist mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, might perhaps have suffered a major setback after two, nearly 39-foot-long electric public transportation vehicles separately caught fire in April.
“Dozens of electric buses will be taken off the streets of Paris temporarily ‘as a precaution’ after two of the vehicles caught fire, public transport operator RATP said Friday,” France24/Agence France-Presse reported on Friday, April 29.
“Following a second blaze on Friday morning, in which no one was hurt, ‘RATP has taken the decision to suspend use of 149 electric buses” of manufacturer Bollore’s Bluebus 5SE model, the state-owned company said.”
Social media captured some footage of the blaze. According to one user, “The Paris Transport Authority bought a bunch of electric buses to look green and apparently rushed the bid and now buses are randomly exploding in Paris.”

“The number 71 bus that caught fire in southeast Paris early Friday released thick clouds of black smoke and a strong smell of burning plastic, according to an AFP journalist on the scene. ‘The bus driver immediately evacuated all the passengers. Nobody was hurt,’ RATP said, while the city fire service said the blaze was put out by around 30 firefighters,” the news outlet added.
No injuries occurred in the first incident, on April 4, either, fortunately.
RATP has called upon Bollore to provide an explanation for what happened and to offer a plan for how the buses can be put back into service in a safe manner. As of this writing, the cause of the infernos has not been officially announced. In a statement, Bollore has indicated that it has mobilized its staff to determine the origin of the fires.
RATP is the government-run, Paris-area regional transit authority, which reportedly includes 500 electric buses, provided by three different manufacturers, in its fleet of 4,700 such vehicles.
The first bus caught fire on the upscale Boulevard Saint-Germain area in central Paris, while the second incident occurred near the national library.
“Bluebus is part of the sprawling empire of French billionaire Vincent Bollore, whose interests range from transport and logistics to media, generating around 24 billion euros ($25 billion) per year in revenue with 80,000 employees,” France24 claimed. “Bollore’s 12-metre (39-foot) electric buses are a familiar sight on the streets of the French capital, emblazoned with the words ‘100 percent electric vehicle.'”
Bollore’s website asserts that the 100-percent-electric Bluebus, which comes in two sizes and is manufactured in Brittany in western France, an area bordered to the north by the English Channel, provides “A clean and silent solution for urban and suburban public transport,” and that it “meets environmental challenges and combines high technology, design and performance.”
