Fox Business host Charles Payne excoriated Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and her progressive colleagues for pushing the cancellation of student loan debt in the name of racial justice, calling it a “sham” and declaring “it must stop now.”
Payne, whose show Making Money airs on FOX Business Network each day at 2pm, was incensed by Jayapal’s tweet that canceling student loan debt represents racial, gender, and economic justice.
“Student debt cancellation is racial justice. Student debt cancellation is gender justice. Student debt cancellation is economic justice,” she tweeted.
Student loan repayment has been put on hold a reported seven times due to the pandemic. The current moratorium is set to expire in May but it is expected the Biden administration will once again delay repayment. Payne suggested that President Joe Biden may be mulling student loan cancelation to distract from his other economic woes.
“Progressives have hijacked the pain and suffering of black Americans for everything that they want to push,” Payne began. “It’s despicable. It must stop now. I’m gonna say something very vulgar to the Progressives: stop pimping black people, okay?”
Student debt cancellation is racial justice.
Student debt cancellation is gender justice.
Student debt cancellation is economic justice.

We gotta continue pushing for this until it happens. Thankful to our co-conspirators @AyannaPressley @SenSchumer and @ewarren for their efforts. https://t.co/QqCP34Pemz

Payne was just getting warmed up on the subject and declared that “it’s nonsensical, it’s unfair and it’s stupid” for the financial burden of repaying student loans to be redistributed among Americans. He demanded to know “where is the racial justice [Jayapal] is talking about” since canceling student loans would allegedly help more white people in her district than minorities.
“First and foremost, why would anyone in this country want to forgive student loan debt? Seventy-one percent of folks with professional degrees have student loan debt. You know how much they make over a lifetime in earnings… $3.6 million. Doctoral… $3.3 million. Master’s degrees… $2.7 million,” he pointed out. “Why the hell would someone who dropped out of high school or only has a high school degree pay the loan of someone who’s going to make $3.6 million in their lifetime?”
“Who owns this debt? Fifty-nine percent Asian students, sixty-seven percent Hispanic, seventy percent white. Where is the racial justice? Where’s the racial justice that she is talking about? Let’s go to her district. I checked out her district last night, 4.8% black people in her district. Who is she really helping in her district? 73% white, over 60% graduation rate, more than double the national average. It is a gift to her white donors,” Payne noted.
Canceling student loan debt is a matter of racial, economic, and generational justice. @RepPressley, @MassAGO Healey and I are urging President Biden to act. #CancelStudentDebt pic.twitter.com/pLXYfNjRWU

Today would be a great day for President Biden and Vice President Harris to #CancelStudentDebt.

“One more thing… Who are her donors? Try Microsoft, the number one donor. You know how many black people who work for Microsoft? You can go down to the next train station and find more; 3% are managers. It’s one of the largest corporations in the world. Now here’s the problem, they keep saying well, black people have more of a percentage… It’s harder to pay it back. That’s not the college loan. That’s society. That’s Microsoft. That’s progressive corporations who will write a check to a bogus organization and buy a 6 million dollar house instead of really hiring people, training people. They’re the ones who don’t believe in black people. The whole thing is a sham,” he railed.
“Listen, it’s an economic disaster. It’s a farce,” he bluntly remarked. “You can’t tell me on one hand we are going to help people go to college and on the other hand tell me college doesn’t pay for it itself. You can’t have it both ways. One has to be correct.”
He suggested that Jayapal speak with her donors about “why they are not helping the people in these cities the right way. Talk about the education that leaves these kids unable to get a real competitive job.”
