Megyn Kelly had strong words for those who are pushing for President Joe Biden to forgive their student loans, suggesting that neither she nor any other taxpayer should be on the hook for the financial obligations of “snot-nosed” kids if the administration eventually acts to cancel their debt.
On Monday’s edition of her SiriusXM radio show, the former Fox News anchor addressed activist pressure on the White House to wipe the slate clean with calls for loan forgiveness coming from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, among others.
During her conversation with the hosts of the conservative podcast “Ruthless,” Kelly didn’t hold back on the entitled young people who want the government to assume the burden for their bad choices.
“Everything’s free, we should go back to our socialist roots and then the democrats won’t be facing a blood bath in November,” she asked her guests. “Didn’t you guys have someone pay for your college?”
Kelly then spoke of her own family’s struggles, noting that she and her siblings paid their loans back despite tragic circumstances.

“I think about it in my own life,” she said, “my audience knows that my dad died suddenly when I was 15 of a heart attack, and my mom already had two kids in college at that point, my brother and sister are older than I am, they’re in college, she’s trying to – he was only 45 – we were not, we weren’t rich to begin with so it’s not like he had some big, fat life insurance policy, He had like the bare minimum you have when you’re in your 40s and you… a professor, which is what he was,” she recollected.
“Anyway, what’d she do? She used the entirety of that payment to pay for the rest, what she could of my brother and sister’s college and my college education,” she said, “and all three of us had to take out loans on top of it, of course. So like do I think now that you know, I would have been better off if the federal government had stepped in,” Kelly continued.
“Look, it would have been nice but I don’t think the neighbors should have to pay for my college education,” Kelly said, “and my mom made a sacrifice. She could have been living off of that money, suddenly she didn’t have a two-income home, but she used it to help her children, like that’s what parents do, they scrimp and they save and they do what’s necessary to pay for things like education and we took out loans, too.”
“And then we paid those loans back, why should these snot-nosed kids today,” she said, “I’m sorry, the ones who really it, they can get loans right, but like, you point out a lot of these people are going to be these sort of college, Columbia elite graduates who are going to spend their years in journalism trying to shame half of America for doing absolutely nothing wrong,”
“Why should I be paying for their college education?” Kelly asked. “I don’t want to.”
On Tuesday, the White House caved to the pressure with multiple news outlets reporting that Biden will extend the pause on student loan repayments that was implemented as a result of COVID through August 31st, and with Democrats in dire political straits, it’s probably likely that the deadline will again be bumped further into the future so as to not depress voter turnout in the critical midterm elections this fall.
Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t satisfied and took to Twitter to gripe that it fell short of the cancellation of student loan debt that progressives have been demanding.

“Cancel student debt. All of it,” Senator Sanders wrote on Twitter, demanding action from the deeply unpopular leader who has yet to honor many of the key demands of the noisy “snot-nosed” progressive wing of the Democratic Party.
