Fox News jumped to reporter Peter Doocy’s defense on Friday in response to White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s recent on-air remarks criticizing Doocy for sounding like a “stupid son of a b*tch” based on the questions he asks.
In a note directed to Psaki on Twitter, News Anchor John Roberts broke down the essentials of journalistic inquiry for the red-headed press secretary, explaining that Doocy “makes the decisions on what topics he wants to quiz you on, and develops the questions himself. His philosophy is a basic tenet of journalism. Comfort the afflicted, and afflict the comfortable.”
“If that makes all of us ‘stupid s.o.b.s’, so be it,” he added.
Note to @PressSec . @pdoocy makes the decisions on what topics he wants to quiz you on, and develops the questions himself.

A spokesperson for Fox News echoed Roberts’ sentiments related to Doocy’s inquisitive questions.
“In his role as White House correspondent, Peter Doocy’s job is to elicit truth from power for the American public,” the spokesperson told Mediaite. “His questions are his own, he is a terrific reporter and we are extremely proud of his work.”
Roberts’ remarks were in response to Psaki reportedly replying to if “Peter Doocy is a stupid son of a b*tch or does he just play one on TV?”
“He works for a network that provides people with questions that, nothing personal to any individual including Peter Doccy, but might make anyone sound like a stupid son of a b*tch,” Psaki apparently said during a “Pod Save America” podcast on Thursday.
Psaki also tells a story about how Doocy was gracious after President Biden called him and apologized.

Many people reacted positively to Roberts’ lesson on proper reporting for Psaki, who is reportedly looking to jump ship and work for a news network herself.
Hopefully this spurs him to ask even more uncomfortable questions.

Peter asks the questions we at home would like to ask. I appreciate any journalist who does that. I don’t want “my” candidates overly comfortable either.

Others were just ready for Psaki to make her exit from the White House and make the leap to network news.
Why hasn’t Little Red Lying Hood resigned yet? Her MSDNC deal seems like it’s set.

Some disagreed altogether – although they were quickly alerted that many appreciated Doocy’s questions.
You may not find it relevant but it is relevant to about 50% of the country FYI

Psaki’s remarks were reminiscent of words spoken by President Joe Biden in late January after Doocy asked him a question.
“Do you think inflation is a political liability in the midterms?” Doocy inquired at the time.
“No, it’s a great asset,” Biden responded, apparently not aware that his microphone was still live. “More inflation. What a stupid son of a b*tch.”
Doocy laughs it off.

To Biden’s credit, he did call Doocy to apologize in a round-a-bout sort of way, although it remains to be seen if Psaki will do the same.
“He cleared the air,” Doocy told Fox News Host Sean Hannity. “And I appreciate it. We had a nice call.”
Hannity laughed and pressed Doocy for more specifics saying, “That’s not an answer. Did he apologize?”
“He said, ‘It’s nothing personal, pal.’ And I told him I appreciated him reaching out. Hey, Sean, the world is on the brink of like World War III right now, with all the stuff going on. I appreciate that the president took a couple minutes out this evening while he was still at the desk to give me a call and clear the air,” Doocy said at the time.
