CNN anchor Brianna Keilar openly wept as she struggled to get control of herself Thursday during a report on the hundreds of Ukrainian children tragically killed in shelling and fighting during the brutal Russian invasion of the country.

The official statistics from the Ukrainian government estimate that roughly 200 children have perished in the last month during the fighting, according to The Hill. Reporting from Lviv, Keilar commented that the numbers are likely a gross underestimate of the fatalities that have occurred. She listed a number of children’s deaths in various cities that have come under attacks, such as Kyiv and Mariupol, during her “New Day” segment that highlighted how the war has resulted in “stolen childhood on an unimaginable scale.”

She tweeted a clip of her report, stating, “These are the children this war has taken. They have names. They had futures. The war in Ukraine is stolen childhood on an unimaginable scale.”

Keilar’s voice first began to show emotion as she spoke about 6-year-old Sofia and her infant brother Vanyushka, who was murdered along with several members of their family when Russian soldiers shot up their car while they were stopped at a checkpoint. Keilar recalled how their uncle was on speakerphone with them when they were gunned down and the car was “shot to pieces,” while he listened to 5-week-old Vanyushka crying as the family died.

The infant cried for two minutes before passing, according to the CNN reporter as she wiped away tears.

She went on to tell several more stories of children lost in the invasion including the attack on a maternity hospital. The stories are nothing short of horrific.

“An Associated Press photographer says he witnessed the death of a 6-year-old in Mariupol. Russian forces shelled the building where she was staying, and she was, she was wearing unicorn pajamas,” Keilar said, breaking down as the tears flowed, “as an ambulance rushed her to a hospital, where she died.”

Ukrainians have claimed from the beginning that women and children have been targeted by the Russians during the bloody conflict.

Russia has repeatedly denied accusations of war crimes in Ukraine, despite mounting evidence of it. Keilar concluded her report by stating that the Russians have accused Ukraine of falsifying evidence of the atrocities they have committed throughout the invasion.

“But they’re real,” Keilar claimed while listing names of children who have died.

President Joe Biden has called the indiscriminate killing of thousands of Ukrainians genocide. His assessment was echoed by former President Donald Trump. Biden has also labeled Russian President Vladimir Putin a war criminal and has promised military aid to Ukraine.

Keilar is one of many reporters on the ground in the war-torn country. CNN has sent a number of its top journalists to report on the war.

Fox News also had a reporter named Benjamin Hall seriously wounded while in Ukraine. Cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski and Ukrainian producer Oleksandra Kuvshynova were killed in the attack as well.

  1. Teresa Monroe Hamilton, being a liberal hack reporter, never places the blame on Biden for this war. This is because the libs wanted anyone other than Trump. Now the US is drowning in debt, the world is laughing at us and foreign powers are attacking.

  2. I have had much disdain for Brianna Keilar over the years. She regularly comes off to me as arrogant and stuck on herself- until now. I saw her become a broken-hearted person and not just an anti-Trump, Republican-hating pundit. Her reporting of the Russian murder of Ukrainian children broke my heart and I am still crying. Sometimes, the images I have seen don’t look real- like I am not really seeing the ghastly sights. Maybe it’s a reflexive attempt by my limbic system to preserve my psyche from completely breaking down. I was brought to my knees by Ms. Keilar’s soul-wrenching reporting.

  3. It’s horrible in Ukraine,,but what about all the children here in the USA dying from the vax, that they are forced to endure,or even wearing a mask breathing in all the contaminated particles your body gets rid of when breathing,,,,FJB,,,,

  4. This carnage and human sacrifice was brought to you by biden and the weak democrat party. Their inaction and projected weakness gave this monster the green light. Trump may have hurt your feelings but he knew how to fight and avoid a fight. His projected strength prevented countless human deaths during his tenure. Putin the pig would not have tried this under Trump.

    1. Trump KNEW how to deal with Putin. Biden only knows when the ice cream truck is out front. He doesn’t even know a WAR broke out.
