Disney shareholder tells CEO to stop mousing around, wasting money on ‘political crusades’

Plenty of Disney shareholders and employees alike are unhappy with the company’s decision to embark on a “woke” crusade against Florida over its Parental Rights in Education bill.

One shareholder, economist and entrepreneur Ray Keating, told Fox Business Network that he’d like Disney CEO Bob Chapek to stop wasting his money.

“Here’s a suggestion for Disney CEO Bob Chapek: Get back to business — that is, excellence in storytelling — and stop wasting shareholders’ money on political crusades that have nothing to do with Disney’s business. We all have the right to have our voices heard on issues, but not on the shareholders’ dime,” he said.

Thanks to Chapek’s decision to involve the company in Florida’s conservative politics, and thanks also to undercover footage showing other Disney execs bragging about indoctrinating children in LGBT ideology, Disney is bleeding conservative customers, meaning it’s bleeding money.

According to Keating, Disney should have known better.

“[I]t seems like common sense to understand that it will not turn out well if the executives of a company decide to engage on political issues that have nothing to do with the company’s business,” he wrote recently for an economics-themed blog he runs.

“[G]etting involved in a hot political topic that has nothing to do with a firm’s business simply because a group of activists pressures executives to do so – as is the case with Disney’s current public/political woes – not only threatens to toss the company into a political maelstrom, but it is fundamentally wrong.”

Keating further accused Disney of essentially stealing his money.

“Company executives who use company resources, that is, shareholder resources, to engage in politics, including so-called corporate social responsibility adventures, are, in effect, guilty of stealing from the company’s owners,” he argued.

Disney has also, he maintained, gone to war against its own employees — its own conservative employees, that is.

He noted in another blog post that said employees recently penned an open letter that was completely ignored by the establishment press.

“As employees of the Walt Disney Company, we believe in the dignity of all people. This is why we do what we do. We write stories. We make costumes. We act in parades. We run cruises. We stream movies. We make magic. We do this because our work contributes to a fountain of wonder that inspires joy, awe, and delight in guests and audiences of all ages. We are proud employees of the Walt Disney Company,” the employees wrote.

“However, over the last few years, one group of cast members has become invisible within the company. The Walt Disney Company has come to be an increasingly uncomfortable place to work for those of us whose political and religious views are not explicitly progressive. We watch quietly as our beliefs come under attack from our own employer, and we frequently see those who share our opinions condemned as villains by our own leadership.”

Included among the dissenters inside Disney are even some gay employees like Gary Lucia, who’s gone viral for a Substack post he wrote in defense of the Parental Rights in Education bill.

“As a gay man and employee of Disney, I support the Parental Rights in Education Act and feel the need to go on record that I do NOT agree with the Disney ‘LGBTQ+’ leaders and groups that purport to speak on my behalf,” he wrote.

“I also feel the need at this time to make a statement that I do NOT consider myself a member of your ‘LGBTQ+ Community’ and I object to any assumption that I am included. I REJECT this ‘community’ and refuse to participate with or be subjected to any of its declarations.”
