The world’s richest man has apparently tested positive for the world’s most prevalent virus.

In his often-cryptic style, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, a vaccinated father of 7 whose eligible children have also reportedly received the jab, provided the following update to his nearly 80 million Twitter followers:

“Covid-19 is the virus of Theseus. How many gene changes before it’s not Covid-19 anymore? I supposedly have it again (sigh), but almost no symptoms.”

According to the World History Encyclopedia, “Theseus is a legendary hero from Greek mythology who was considered an early king of Athens. Famously killing villains, Amazons, and centaurs, his most celebrated adventure was his slaying of the fearsome Minotaur of the Cretan king Minos. In the Classical period, Theseus came to represent the perfect Athenian — the just man-of-action determined to serve his city as best he could and staunch defender of democracy.”

Musk might instead be referring to the Theseus paradox, which according to a university library “is a thought experiment that raises the question of whether an object that has had all of its components replaced remains fundamentally the same object.”

Musk “questioned the accuracy of COVID-19 tests in November 2020 after claiming that results showed he tested positive twice and then negative twice all on the same day,” Reuters recalled.

At the time, he described the effects as “Mild sniffles & cough & slight fever past few days. Right now, no symptoms, although I did take NyQuil.”

About a year ago, Musk prompted some degree of controversy by alluding to some debate over the safety of a second COVID dose, but then issued a clarifying tweet in which he backed the coronavirus vaccination.

Musk opposes vaccine mandates, however, and was not a particular fan of lockdowns.

Separately, the visionary and sometimes controversial or quirky entrepreneur seems less-than-inspired by the Biden administration.

Over the weekend, Musk prompted a lot of social media excitement by admitting he is seriously considering creating a no-censorship, free-speech rival platform to Twitter.

On Sunday, perhaps in a related message, he joked “Seize the memes of production!”

Musk, 50, is also supplying internet access to war-torn Ukraine via his Starlink broadband satellite service.

“The recent announcement by Musk happened to be made as Tesla’s car plant in Shanghai, China paused production due to a partial city lockdown put in place to contain the deadly virus,” People claimed in the context of the Monday tweet.

The immigrant from South Africa has a staggering estimated net worth of about $287 billion, putting him at the top of Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires List.

Although some Twitter users seem to be mocking Musk apparently for purportedly downplaying the virus in the past, others appear to be more synergetic. Here is just a small sample of the responses:
