U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has once again made herself a target of intense mockery, this time for using President Joe Biden’s notorious whispering shtick to talk about capitalism and socialism, two subjects she appears to know very little about.
Yet in an Instagram Story posted this week, she claimed — while whispering — that it’s everybody else who’s ignorant about the true meaning of capitalism and socialism.
“Let me tell you a secret. Most people don’t really know what capitalism really is. Most people don’t even know what socialism is. But most people are not capitalists because they don’t have capitalist money. They’re not billionaires,” she whispered.
“Guys, the label doesn’t matter as much as talking about policies. That’s easier to understand. Do you think people should die because they can’t afford insulin? Do you think that fossil fuel CEOs should decide whether the planet gets set on fire?”

She reportedly then “did it again.”
“Unionize your workplace. Start a worker cooperative. If it’s too extreme for working people to own the means of production, why is it OK for private billionaires to own the means of production?” she whispered this time.

The bizarre lecture left many scratching their heads in confusion, wondering why in the world she was whispering like a madman named Joe Biden.
Look:
Dementia is contagious. @AOC is whispering now😱

I just thought whispering like Joe Biden just made you sound creepy but AOC has taught me that whispering can also make you sound mentally challenged… with apologies in advance to the mentally challenged for comparing you to AOC which is an unforgivable insult. pic.twitter.com/H3eSVJIS7A

Fox News host Jesse Watters believes he knows the reason behind her whispering.
Speaking on “Jesse Watters Primetime” this Friday, he said she may be trying to perform something called ASMR.
Watters explained that this bizarre phenomenon involves people recording themselves making whispering-like noises on a microphone and then sharing these recordings on video-sharing platforms like YouTube.
Why? Because hearing these sounds allegedly triggers what Watters described as “a feeling of well-being combined with a tingling sensation in the scalp and then down the back of the neck.”
“I guess this is a thing, and we found out that people have been making videos of themselves either whispering or blowing into the mic, chewing sometimes, typing and clicking, and then they post it online for people to listen and watch, and then they feel some type of way,” he explained.
And apparently, Ocasio-Cortez is trying to join the movement, though she isn’t the first politician to do so. After all, the president of the United States has been performing his own ASMR shtick for months now:
So the question now remains, did Ocasio-Cortez’s ASMR trigger a happy sensation? According to Watters’ guest, political commentator Douglas Murray, the answer is no.
“When I hear AOC doing that, I don’t feel that tingling pleasure. I want to gnaw at my hands, I want to pull my eyes out, I want to scream and run out of the room,” he told Watters.
This prompted the Fox News host to ask, “What if she ate a chicken bone — would that make you feel a sensation?”
As he’d noted earlier, ASMR is sometimes performed with objects as well.
“It would stop her talking. It would stop her from advocating the virtues of socialism,” Murray quipped in response.
He did not care for her thoughts on capitalism and socialism. Nor did members of the public, who were left baffled by her “absurd” claims that one must be a billionaire to enjoy the fruits of capitalism and that it’s wrong for those who start businesses to maintain ownership of said businesses.
Critics were also left wondering how in the world she’d graduated cum laude from Boston University with an economics degree.
Look:
You do not have to be a billionaire to be a capitalist. That’s absolutely absurd.

Only Billionaires can be Capitalists? Tell that to all the small business owners who build successful businesses from scratch…

“Most people don’t know what capitalism is” Yeah she’s one of them

How the hell did she graduate with an Economics degree?!

If I owned a business, I would want to own it—not my workers. They can set up their own business if they want to.

Murray felt the same about Ocasio-Cortez not knowing anything.
“She likes to think she’s on top of all of the means of communication, but it’s the contents of what she said that, as always with her actually, when you can discern them, is so disturbing. I mean, she says most people don’t understand socialism [and capitalism], and clearly, she’s one of them,” he told Watters.
