Amidst mounting tensions between Russia and Ukraine, the U.S. government is urging Americans in that hotspot, as one option, to seek safe haven in Poland.
There appears to be a catch, however, at least for now.
According to a purported U.S. Department of State advisory, Americans fleeing Ukraine must be vaxxed against COVID-19.
“The security situation in Ukraine continues to be unpredictable due to the increased threats of Russian military action and can deteriorate with little notice,” the State Department reportedly announced on Saturday. “U.S. citizens in Ukraine should depart immediately using commercial or other privately available transportation options.”
“Poland has indicated to the U.S. government that U.S. citizens may now enter Poland through the land border with Ukraine. No advanced approval is required…U.S. citizens must present a valid U.S. passport and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Travelers are also encouraged to present a negative test result from a PCR or antigen COVID-19 test, which will facilitate entry into Poland.”

This precondition prompted Christina Pushaw, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ high-energy press secretary, to observe on social media, “This email from @StateDept to Americans in Ukraine is strange. Poland doesn’t require proof of vaccination for American citizens who want to enter the country. So…this is a Biden Administration policy? Leave the unvaccinated in a potential war zone?”
Many who follow current events have noticed that the open-borders, catch-and-release, deportation-averse Biden administration has allowed massive number of illegal immigrants to cross the U.S. southern border apparently regardless of their health or vaccination status.
As Outkick’s Clay Travis noted, “So if you’re not vaccinated and a United States citizen you have to stay in Ukraine for the (potential) invasion? Even for the Biden administration this is next level dumb. Especially since ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS flooding across our southern border don’t even have to be vaccinated.”
Back in September 2021, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted that about 20 percent of the undocumented migrants had an illness of some kind.
Many vaccine hawks and Pushaw foes on Twitter are claiming that Poland is imposing this requirement on Americans fleeing Ukraine (which runs counter to what Pushaw has claimed).
According to a government coronavirus information website in that country, travelers arriving into Poland from outside the European Union apparently must “present a negative COVID-19 test result.” The test can be taken at some airports in Poland within three hours of arrival. A seven-day quarantine is an alternative, subject to certain exceptions that the website details.
Some Twitter users are opining on what they imply is the U.S. State Department’s myopia in a potential crisis:
Incredible to think US citizens running from a war can’t seek safe haven if they don’t have proof that they’ve had a shot that doesn’t prevent infection or transmission for a virus that has a 99.08 or so survival rate. Thanks @JoeBiden

Lol you can only escape the war if your vaccinated 🥴
— Nathan (@nalastra) February 12, 2022
They even use the possibility of being trapped in a war zone as leverage to force vaccinations.

Look, I am an advocate for vaccination (I will mute this notification so I don’t get tagged over and over again), but to deny entry for citizens fleeing an ACTIVE WARZONE, is unacceptable.

“My fellow Americans, Either take the vax or prepare to fight a war in sub freezing temperatures. Lol Good luck✌️”
– Joe Biden— Mr. Amerrica (@iamtitz) February 12, 2022
If Poland doesn’t require proof of vaccination or a valid covid test, then this email was probably written on the fly by some State dept idiot who doesn’t know enough, or can’t be bothered to check the necessary information for doing their job accurately.

They will probably count the unvaccinated that die from Russian bombs as COVID deaths

Do you think they checked the vax status of all those Afghans et al who crammed into those planes last year?
— Paulo (@jock5903) February 13, 2022
Why don’t they just come through the u.s. Mexican border
— WATTS POWER (@KennethEWatts2) February 12, 2022
Just fly them to Mexico and then walk across the border, they won’t have to show anything
