A black New Jersey physician made a claim of racial profiling last week that seemed so far-fetched that many accused him of lying, with some critics going as far as to label him the “new Jussie Smollett.”
Dr. Tyree Winters, a pediatric doctor whose Twitter profile contains his “gender pronouns” and lists him as a “social justice warrior” and supporter of “BLM,” made the claim in a Twitter post published Thursday afternoon.
“*Walking down the hallway when stopped by someone* ‘Excuse me, you’re housekeeping, right?’ I replied, ‘no, but I can try to help you if you need something’ *The person looks down at my badge* ‘Oh you’re a doctor!?!?!? Sorry, you looked like the custodial staff,'” the post reads.
The problem critics have with his claim is that in no way, shape or form was he dressed like housekeeping.

Running with his assertion, he was dressed, at best, like a doorman at an upscale hotel.
And the fact that he had a giant “doctor” badge hanging from his lanyard made his claim seem even more implausible.
This isn’t to say that Dr. Winters was lying. However, given both the contradicting facts and also his support for Black Lives Matter — a movement rooted in the blatant lie that black criminal suspects are being unjustifiably gunned down by the police — critics were hard-pressed to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Then they said “THIS IS A MAGA HOSPITAL,” right?

You’re sure that ‘person’ wasn’t two Nigerian guys, right?

Hi Jussie! Did your post about the imaginary microagression get you some new followers and the attention you wanted?
— Hollaria Briden, Esq. (@HollyBriden) December 11, 2021
@tmswDO is the new Jussie Smollet 😂😂😂😂😂😂
— SpeedRacer🏎💨 (@RacerrSpeed) December 11, 2021
@tmswDO Maybe it was the clean, blue suit that threw them off & let them think you were housekeeping or it never happened. I go with it never happened & you have an over-inflated opinion of yourself. Congratulations on being a Dr though & I will steer clear of you for treatment

Despite the backlash, Winters is sticking with his story.
“I’m so overwhelmed by the response to my post. Thank you all for the support. Microaggressions are real and it’s hard to call them out when you are use to people minimizing your pain. I hope that someone was encouraged to speak out as well ✊🏾✊🏾,” he added in a follow-up tweet.
And in fairness to him, a few others reported experiencing something similar or knowing someone who’d experienced something similar.
A female physician just posted YESTERDAY similar experience–mistaken for transport… like you in dress clothes and wearing badge.

Agree with @DocOhms – difficult to call this “micro”.
When I was a chief resident, a black female intern was asked to leave the nursing station: “housekeeping” should not be using it. Back then, the offender was not even reprimanded. All these years later, still sick over it.

But on the other hand, some critics said that even if Winter’s story is true, that’s life, and such mistakes happen to everybody.
I’m a White guy and I’ve been mistaken for the hired help many times.

“Micoaggressions” have been around since the beginning of time. But your generation is the first one to glory in them. I say get over yourself and learn to deal with the crummy things of life without whining about them on social media. ✊🏿✊🏿

The latter user had a point about this generation’s “woke” behavior. Never before in human history have “microaggressions” been a matter worthy of discussion. In the past, people, particularly men, simply learned to shrug off rude behavior.
These days, the “woke” demand that rude behavior — and, in some cases, even behavior that isn’t actually rude or wrong — be addressed, often with veritable “struggle sessions.”
And from all appearances, Winters does appear to be part of the “woke,” as evidenced by his “woke” tweets and retweets.

Spoke about experiencing being called intimidating and effects of the “Angry Black man” phenomenon with a group of colleagues in an executive leadership training program. Was told “one way to ‘combat’ that would be to smile more” #WTF

FYI, the latter tweet was a defense of critical race theory, the racial essentialist dogma that teaches children that white people are evil …
