CNN has suspended a producer after he was arrested Friday by the FBI on charges related to alleged sex crimes involving underage girls.

According to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Vermont, a grand jury in that state indicted John Griffin, 44, on “three counts of using a facility of interstate commerce to attempt to entice minors to engage in unlawful sexual activity.”

“Griffin’s time as a senior producer for CNN’s ‘New Day’ partially coincides with fired anchor Chris Cuomo’s tenure as anchor of the morning program before taking the helm of ‘Cuomo Primetime,'” Fox News reported.

Griffin apparently most recently worked for the network’s senior political analyst John Avlon.

In a statement on Saturday, a CNN spokesperson explained that “The charges against Mr. Griffin are deeply disturbing. We only learned of his arrest yesterday afternoon and have suspended him pending investigation.”

CNN says that Griffin, a Connecticut resident, was employed by the network for about eight years.

The U.S. Attorney’s office outlined the disturbing allegations that led to the CNN staffer’s indictment, including allegedly using some online apps “to communicate with people purporting to be parents of minor daughters, conveying to them, among other ideas, that a ‘woman is a woman regardless of her age,’ and that women should be sexually subservient and inferior to men.”

On these communication platforms, Griffin sought to persuade parents to allow him to train their daughters to be sexually submissive. In June of 2020, Griffin advised a mother of 9- and 13-year-old daughters that the mother’s responsibility was to see that her older daughter was “trained properly.” Griffin later transferred over $3,000 to the mother for plane tickets so the mother and her 9-year-old daughter could fly from Nevada to Boston’s Logan airport. The mother and child flew to Boston in July of 2020, where Griffin picked them up in his Tesla and drove them to his Ludlow [Vermont] house. At the house, the daughter was directed to engage in, and did engage in, unlawful sexual activity.

The indictment also includes specific allegations that Griffin attempted to entice two other children over the internet to engage in sexual activity…

If convicted in a court of law, the suspect faces up a mandatory federal minimum of 10 years behind bars for each charge.

“The United States Attorney’s Office emphasizes that an indictment contains allegations only and that Griffin remains presumed innocent until and unless he is convicted of a crime,” prosecutors advised, however.

Prosecutors noted that they intend to seize Griffin’s assets which includes the Vermont second home, a Tesla, and a Mercedes “and other property that was used in the commission of the charged offenses.”

CNN initially suspended Chris Cuomo late last month when documents from New York’s attorney general revealed that the latter apparently served as his big brother’s spin doctor more than previously known amidst allegations of the disgraced ex-governor’s sexual misconduct.

“The indictment of the CNN producer came less than a week after the network fired its primetime star Chris Cuomo after a new sexual misconduct allegation emerged against the anchor over alleged behavior that took place at another network, which he denied,” Fox News recalled.

In a prior allegation, former ABC News executive Shelley Ross accused Cuomo  — in a New York Times essay published on September 24, 2021 — of groping her in an incident that occurred in June 2005.
