Tucker Carlson served up a short but sweet statement following the resignation of two Never Trump pundits from Fox News in protest over his new documentary series about the so-called “insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol.
“Our viewers will be grateful,” said the popular host following the departure of Jonah Goldberg and Stephen Hayes in remarks given to The New York Times via telephone for a story that the paper published on the duo’s publicity stunt.
Carlson’s three-part series “Patriot Purge,” which is available for streaming on Fox Nation, has badly unnerved an establishment that is heavily invested in the false narrative that mostly peaceful protestors who briefly occupied the Capitol on January 6 and were primarily interested in taking selfies were part of a legitimate attempt to overthrow the entire U.S. government, a ludicrous premise that has nonetheless served as the basis for a new domestic war on terror and the targeting of political adversaries, particularly those who support former President Donald J. Trump.
Goldberg, formerly of the National Review which vehemently opposed Trump’s historic White House run, told the Times, “Whether it’s ‘Patriot Purge’ or anti-vax stuff, I don’t want it in my name, and I want to call it out and criticize it.
“I don’t want to feel like I am betraying a trust that I had by being a Fox News contributor. And I also don’t want to be accused of not really pulling the punches. And then this was just an untenable tension for me,” he said.
The duo also issued a statement to readers of The Dispatch, the website that they co-founded. “Fox News still does real reporting, and there are still responsible conservatives providing valuable opinion and analysis. But the voices of the responsible are being drowned out by the irresponsible,” they wrote.
In addition to Carlson’s remarks that effectively said that the two shouldn’t let the door hit them in their sanctimonious rear ends on the way out, he jumped at the opportunity to promote “Patriot Purge” off of their choice to bolt from Fox.
Carlson tweeted a new promo for the series, hyping it as “The documentary series that drove Jonah Goldberg to an impotent rage…”

Carlson’s intrepid journalism and cutting edge commentary has earned the wrath of those who seek to destroy America, especially the corrupt, entrenched D.C. elite for which Goldberg has long served as a scribe, and they have been shrieking like banshees for weeks since “Patriot Purge” debuted with one of the shrillest voices belonging to malicious actor Rep. Liz Cheney, the diehard Never Trumper and pedigreed denizen of the swamp who implied that Fox News should de-platform him.
It appears that @FoxNews is giving @TuckerCarlson a platform to spread the same type of lies that provoked violence on January 6. As @FoxNews knows, the election wasn’t stolen and January 6 was not a “false flag” operation. @rupertmurdoch @jayawallace @Suzannescott @SpeakerRyan https://t.co/ODKZFVUFBa

Carlson was dismissive of the embattled congresswoman, dismissing her as “some screechy little politician” as well as a liar and a coward, adding that “neocons usually are cowards,” a description that includes Goldberg and Hayes, both of whom were major cheerleaders for the wars of Cheney’s father.
It is because of Carlson’s devotion to real journalism that he has dominated cable ratings, crushing the competition and allowing him to expand his work into the “Tucker Carlson Originals” documentaries including “Patriot Purge” which will break new ground by offering different perspectives than the dishonest drivel that saturates the mainstream media, badly misinforming the American people who are hungry for the truth.
Some took to Twitter to express their opinions about Goldberg and Hayes cutting off ties with Fox News.
Idea for an MSNBC show that they'll absolutely love. They can call it "The Self Important Five" staring:
– Bill Kristol
– Jonah Goldberg
– Stephen Hayes
– Tom Nichols
– Jen Rubin— Fusilli Spock (@awstar11) November 21, 2021
Jonah Goldberg and Stephen Hayes just quit Fox News in protest over Tucker’s J6 special.
Didn’t even know they still worked there.

I’m a reasonably well read Conservative and I have no idea who Stephen Hayes is. All I know of Jonah Goldberg is that he posts pictures of dogs on Twitter. So twinkle, twinkle little stars. Who gives a fuck who you two are? https://t.co/2TrtZ9BZHs

Good Riddance!! Their pompous ass needed to go. Both Jonah Goldberg and Stephen Hayes are card-carrying members of the swamp! https://t.co/6iXvmvH5g5

The fact that Jonah Goldberg and Steve Hayes blamed Tucker Carlson for their departure from FOX News is a petty, mean-girl move.

Goldberg and Hayes’ exodus from Fox News comes weeks after disgraced, soon to be former U.S. Representative Adam Kinzinger implored the network’s employees to speak out against Carlson following the preview of “Patriot Purge,” a call to action that went unheeded other than some lame, catty comments that Geraldo Rivera made to the New York Times.
Anyone working for @FoxNews must speak out. This is disgusting. It appears @foxnews isn’t even pretending anymore https://t.co/54Dfj3CS9X

Not only is Goldberg and Hayes’ snit an acknowledgment that Carlson has won but also that there is no stopping the resilient Trump, whose pro-America agenda and ability to absorb whatever is thrown at him has the establishment very worried that he will win easily if he chooses to mount another run for the White House in 2024.
