Fox News host Dana Perino announced with a heavy heart the passing of her dog, Jasper, on Saturday, also known by many fans as “America’s Dog”.
Jasper has frequently been featured on air at Fox News over the years and stolen the hearts of viewers as they watched Perino’s undeniable bond with the pup.
“It is its deep sadness that I have to let you all know that Jasper passed away today,” Perino tweeted Saturday, thanking her followers for loving Jasper and his Twitter presence and linking to a longer Instagram post commemorating him.
The nine year old canine died from an aggressive cancer, she explained.

“It is with broken hearts that Peter and I have to let you know that Jasper, America’s Dog, died today. A fast spreading cancer caused him to leave us sooner than we’d ever hoped. We got to send him off – talking about all the fishing he can do in Heaven,” Perino wrote on Instagram.
The ever-thoughtful Perino apologized to fans if the post seemed impersonal after so many embraced Jasper and the frequent pupdates from the Fox News host over the years.
“My apologies if this post feels impersonal – so many of you have helped us raise Jasper to become the wonderful, hilarious, legend that he was. It would be impossible to reach all of you as I’d like to – truly a dog has never been so loved and supported,” Perino penned.
The Fox News host expressed her gratitude for her colleagues at Fox and their “amazing and loyal audience”.
“You have tolerated my talking about Jasper for years (yes even you @realgreggutfeld and @jessewatters haha),” Perino joked.
Jasper’s fan base has even been known to send paintings of the beloved dog to Perino.

The tribute photo featured in the post was created by fans of “The Five”, the popular evening talk show Perino co-hosts and that Jasper has frequented.
“You’ve helped us have so much joy from his life,” Perino acknowledged.
“What can you do for us? Love each other. Hold on tight to your loved ones – including all of your pets. And love boldly and fully,” the Fox News host said.
Aside from Jasper’s stardom on national television, many know Jasper from the book Perino wrote about him, titled “Let Me Tell You about Jasper: How My Best Friend Became America’s Dog.”
While the loss of a furry friend that loves unconditionally is difficult, America can take comfort in the fact that all dogs go to heaven.
