President Joe Biden hasn’t just destroyed all of America’s hard work in Afghanistan — he’s also destroyed all of America’s hard work securing the southern border.

America is currently, for all intents and purposes, an open borders nation that illegal immigrants are allowed to stream into almost completely unimpeded, thanks in large part to all the cuffs that the president, a rabid Democrat, has placed on U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

CBP officers for the most part can no longer do their real job, which is to protect the border. Instead they’ve been relegated to processing, transporting and taking care of the thousands of illegal migrants, including children, flooding into the states.

According to reports, this has crushed morale.

“Morale is in the toilet. Morale is low because agents aren’t allowed to do their job,” National Border Patrol Council union spokesperson Jon Anfinsen said to the Washington Examiner for a report published Sunday.

“If our job is to be out patrolling the border in between the ports of entry and actively searching for people who have crossed illegally, but we’re not allowed to go do that job, it basically creates this defeated feeling in everyone.”

One agent who works for the CBP Air and Marine Operations sub-agency  anonymously added that it’s easy from the air to spot illegals crossing into the U.S., but there are almost never any agents in the field to apprehend them or, at the very least, keep a tab of how many get away.

In fact, it’s so bad that the illegals often just stroll right into America as if without a concern in the world, according to Anfinsen.

“[S]ometimes they’re walking because they have no need to run because we’re not there,” he told the Examiner.

And so long as Biden remains in office, CBP likely won’t be “there,” given as the president seems to have no interest in securing the border — or at least not yet.

His poll numbers vis-a-vis immigration have tanked, so there’s a chance he might retool his strategy.

As of Aug. 22nd, data from RealClearPolitics showed the president’s approval rating on “immigration” to be a mere 39.5 percent versus a whopping 55.0 percent disapproval. Even his overall approval was down 47.8 percent to 48.6 percent.

For the time being, the situation is drastic.

“Everyone shows up to work sort of downtrodden, almost dead inside, for lack of a better term. They’re not allowed to [do] the job, and they know that people are getting away every single day, every hour,” according to Anfinsen.

Speaking anonymously, one retired CBP agent who’s in close contact with agents still on the field “said the Biden administration has turned Border Patrol agents into corrections officers, placing them inside detention facilities and managing dozens of people packed into small holding rooms,” according to the Examiner.

Keep in mind they’re being forced to do this while the U.S. is experiencing another coronavirus surge.

“This is not being treated like a medical emergency. These guys feel abandoned by CBP and DHS and the administration. Nobody’s coming to rescue them,” the former agent said.

Polling numbers suggest that the American people understandably feel similarly. It makes sense, because not only is the Biden administration allowing illegals to flow freely into the U.S., but it’s also willfully releasing COVID-positive illegals into the American people’s communities.

Another agent anonymously wrote that the agency’s mission “is no longer Deter, Detect, Detain. It is wait until they have all crossed, Uber them to the station and process.”

“Morale is below the Mason/Dixon line. We need more agents on the line (not at hospital or processing). We need more agents working INTEL to nail the son’s behind these groups,” he added, reportedly referring to the cartel groups mostly responsible for smuggling illegals into the states.

Meanwhile, the few agents that are in the field are facing life or death situations.

“Border Patrol agents have increasingly come under attack in recent weeks in Texas and California, officials said Tuesday, including one incident where an agent was fired upon 20 times as criminal gangs continue to smuggle people and drugs into the United States,” Fox News reported last week.

“Since October 2020, the start of the 2021 fiscal year, there have been 388 assault incidents on CBP agents as of Aug. 5, according to figures recently released by the agency. There were 415 incidents for the 2020 fiscal year, the data show.”

As if all this isn’t bad enough, because of the self-inflicted crisis in Afghanistan, the Biden administration has reportedly begun asking CBP agents to travel to the Middle Eastern nation to help with its lackluster evacuation efforts.

“Three agents, including some assigned to the southern border [said] that Border Patrol supervisors began inquiring with agents this week about going overseas for 30 to 90 days. Some agents were sent emails while others were asked during daily meetings that take place before shifts commence,” according to the Examiner.
