Irate Geraldo fights with The Five hosts after Gutfeld questions his intent: ‘… I’ll kick you in the ass!’

Anyone with an invite to Geraldo Rivera’s home or anywhere near it better get vaccinated — or else.

Would-be tough guy Rivera, who is sitting in the liberal chair once occupied by Juan Williams on “The Five,” informed his fellow Fox News panelists, and America, on Wednesday that “You come into my grandchildren’s house, and you’re not vaccinated, I’m gonna kick you in the ass.”

In the intense back and forth that began with a discussion about the CDC’s indoor mask reversal as well as the possibility of government-imposed vaccine passports, Fox News co-host Greg Gutfeld responded to Rivera with a practical solution: “It’s your house; don’t let them in.”

As the segment concluded, Gutfeld added that “We don’t want to go to your house. We want to live our lives.”

As he did on “The Five” the day before, Rivera — who has a law degree from Brooklyn Law School and probably has no formal scientific or public health training — seemed intent on vilifying individuals who have decided so far to decline the COVID-19 jab.

“I think less of people who are not vaccinated. I think that it is an arrogant, selfish, reckless act…caveman stuff,” Geraldo claimed, with a reference to his concerns for the health of his five young grandchildren.

Seeming to endorse authoritarianism despite his past support of civil liberties generally, Rivera asserted that “Sometimes government has to tell, not ask. The government has to tell right now. I want people to have to show, when I go to the bar, I want to know everybody’s vaccinated. Or have the test. ‘Here is my negative test, here it is,’ and every week it has to be updated.”

COVID-19 vaccines have yet to obtain FDA approval and have gone into distribution on an emergency authorization.

Rivera, whose appearances on Fox News have become increasingly cranky, if not erratic, especially in often bitterly sparring with Dan Bongino, dodged when colleague Katie Pavlich asked him if government should mandate access to additional personal medical records such as other inoculations or medical procedures.

Co-host Jesse Watters wanted to know if Rivera thought the estimated 30 percent of the U.S. military who haven’t been vaccinated qualified as cavemen, too. Without really answering the question, Rivera fired back that “the tragedy is that this has been politicized.”

You’re politicizing it,” Watters interjected.

Gutfeld then insisted that Rivera’s approach is all wrong.

“The politicizing is bad, but also I don’t believe that your intent, Geraldo — and I’m sorry to say this — is to persuade anybody. Because nothing you said is persuasive. When you call people names — and I know this for my own history — doesn’t persuade anybody,” he said.

“Too bad,” Rivera replied.

Gutfeld went on to accuse Rivera of considering himself better than a large number of unvaccinated New York City public health workers or illegal aliens.

Rather than “just trying to yell at people,” or “crap on Americans,” Gutfeld implied that Geraldo should also be sensitive to the cohort he called “system distrusters” who, according to Gutfeld, are mostly people of color in D.C., Maryland, and Georgia, as well as the vaccine “wait-and-see-ers.”

“A lot of these people, they’re in Delaware, the home of Joe Biden,” Gutfeld noted about the latter category

“I’m not going to invite you,” Geraldo joked to Gutfeld at the end of the segment, which lightened the mood to some degree.

At the beginning of the contentious segment, Pavlich set the table for the discussion:

“First, I would say the majority of Americans do not believe in mandatory vaccination. They think it should be a choice, and they don’t want to be squeezed out of life as a result of a personal decision for whatever reason that they feel they don’t want to get vaccinated, whether it’s for a health reason or they had COVID and have natural immunity,” Pavlich said.

“Politically, the backlash may be significant. I think that the left will stop at nothing to continue their control and to use this, and they’re more than happy to use corporations to shame people into doing what they want to…” she continued.

“And also on the passport issue…why would you have a vaccine passport to get everybody into a vaccinated venue, if vaccinated people, according to the CDC director, are still spreading it to each other it? It undermines their entire argument.”
