‘Real f–k you to us’: Obama ethics chief crucifies Biden over hiring children of top aides

A “bitter” former U.S. government official is blasting the diversity-focused Biden administration (and its “knee-jerk defenders”) over alleged nepotism and favoritism in its actual hiring practices.

In a long Twitter thread, the official described the way the Biden team is handing out jobs to those with connections, “privileged white kids,” as a “f—–g failure.”

Walter Shaub, the director of the Office of Government Ethics from 2013-2017, took to Twitter to react a report in the Washington Post revealing that while President Joe Biden banned his family for working in the federal government, “that vow did not extend to his senior staff and their relatives. In the first few months of Biden’s presidency, at least five children of his top aides have secured coveted jobs in the new administration.”

“Beyond children, other relatives of top Biden aides also have secured high-level administration jobs or nominations,” the article continued.

The Post sought Shaub’s reaction, and he told the paper in no uncertain terms, “In a country that had just come through a pandemic, how can these children of political appointees be the only people who are qualified for employment?”

He also asserted that “‘Not as bad as Trump’ cannot be the new standard.”

Shaub’s Twitter feed accordingly sounds like he is a devoted liberal who loathes President Trump.

He implied on social media, however, that those Democrats who hyperventilated about first daughter Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner working closely with the former president as senior advisers (although unpaid) should apply the same benchmark to the current occupant of the White House and his team rather than look the other way.

“I’m sorry, I know some folks don’t like hearing any criticism of [Biden]. But this royally sucks. I’m disgusted. A lot of us worked hard to tee him up to restore ethics to government and believed the promises. This is a a real “f–k you” to us—and government ethics.”

Biden’s deputy press secretary Andrew Bates told the Post that there is nothing to see here.

“The president has instituted the highest ethical standards of anyone to ever hold this office,” Bates said. “And he’s proud to have staffed the most diverse administration in American history with well-qualified public servants who reflect his values.”

Former government watchdog Shaub isn’t buying it, however, as he explained in the Tweetstorm.

“The White House’s defense that they had the minimum qualifications is total BS. The issue isn’t whether they were qualified (some weren’t). It’s that a WH that promised diversity is giving these privileged white kids with connected mommies and daddies prime jobs over others!” he tweeted.

Shaub also wrote that “Even the f-ing head of presidential personnel, who is supposed to be keeping them honest, has a child who’s a recent college grad working in the administration. And the spouse of the White House chief of staff, for crying out loud. This is ridiculous. What a f—–g failure.”

Hardly mincing words, the ex-ethics chief described himself as harboring feelings of bitterness for stupidly backing Biden for president.

Among other things, Shaub also claimed that Biden has watered down ethics rules that prohibited appointees from participating in matters with former clients to avoid conflicts of interest.

Despite all the vitriol, Shaub still thinks Biden is better than Donald Trump, though he rips the president’s “knee-jerk defenders.”
