Democrat Congressman who called Jews ‘termites’ leads court packing legislation

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

Anyone who knows the history of court-packing knows that leadership from both parties and former Supreme Court justices including Ruth Bader Ginsberg opposed it.

It is probably one of the reasons that the United States Supreme Court has one of the highest approval ratings among the public, even during troubled times.

During the campaign, when President Donald Trump asked if candidate Joe Biden would pack the court, Biden said no.

In fact, videos prove that Sen. Joe Biden opposed court-packing for decades.

Less than four months into office, not only is there a conversation about court-packing, but on April 15th, a group of cosponsors officially announced legislation demanding four new Supreme Court justices, the Judiciary Act of 2021.

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), a noted anti-Semite and anti-Zionist who once called Jews “termites,” took center stage at the press conference.

Besides making incoherent remarks about Guam in the past, Johnson has been outspoken about his dislike of Jews, especially those living in Israel.

According to the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Johnson spoke at a meeting in 2016 of the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, an anti-Israel organization that supports the global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement seeking to destroy Israel by delegitimizing it in popular opinion. He lamented the “Jewish people” who were “stealing” the land and property of Palestinians.

In 2014, congressional staffers voted Mr. Johnson, “Worst Speaker” and “Most Clueless” on their biennial, “Best & Worst of Congress” list.

In 2019, he compared President Trump to Hitler and again had to apologize for his remarks made at the NAACP’s celebration of the 156th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.

He frequently works with members of the “Squad” and radical left.

Jews must wake up. Voting for party over policy, forgetting the past, or actually not educating themselves accurately with facts allows people like Rep. Hank Johnson to rise to power.

His policies hurt American Jews. Inflation is here. Have you purchased a dozen eggs or a pound of beef lately? How much has it cost you to fill up your car or buy lumber for a home project?

People like Hank Johnson don’t care.  He gets his salary, benefits, and spotlight while you hurt.

I support my Black friends and local Black businesses, but I will never support Black Lives Matter that consistently blames Jews. It is run by hypocritical leaders purchasing million-dollar estates at the cost of low-income minority communities.

Hank Johnson’s court-packing will hurt those minority groups too. Progressives’ radical agenda encourages education failure, poverty, and violence.

Johnson and his crew are quick to name-call and compare Trump to Hitler. But court-packing is “Nazi” like. It’s similar to the radical left’s efforts to deprive Americans of the right to bear arms or due process before being tried in courts.

What We Must Do Now

It is 2021. Local elections are happening NOW.  Who is running for your local council races? I bet you don’t know. Did you sign petitions for candidates? Do you know where candidates stand?

Are you registered to vote?

Progressives like Hank Johnson who have aspirations to work in Washington are popping up everywhere. In New York, nobody took AOC seriously and she is leading DC now. She has become the mentor to Johnson and others like Rep. Mondaire Jones, another court-packing supporter.

We as Jews must speak up. We can not look at candidates as D or R. We must look at them as I, as an independent proud Jew and American.

Being Jewish isn’t enough. Look at another co-sponsor, Rep. Jerry Nadler. In his own district, his Democratic City Council candidate Sara Lind’s campaign manager publicly complained that the Upper West Side of Manhattan was “too Jewish.” Nadler has remained silent.

Look at each race, each candidate. Focus on their previous private and public support for Jews.

For the first time, I am supporting and working with a Democrat, Heshy Tischler, candidate for City Council in Brooklyn’s 48th district.

Many ask why. As I have written before, the times we are living in are often compared to pre-Holocaust Europe. Too often, Jews ignored the truth and signs of what was to come.

Tischler was one of the first Jews to call out both Mayor Bill DeBlasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo when both singled out the religious Jewish communities during COVID.

Tischler is a leader. He has a history of helping children from all backgrounds. The youth in his community idolize him because he pays attention to them.

He is the exact opposite of the AOC-Tiffany Caban-Hank Johnson progressives desperately trying to take over the local city council, the state capital in Albany, and Washington DC.

Jews should actively oppose court-packing, progressive politics, and people like Rep. Hank Johnson from ever getting the power to spread hate— just like termites.
