Poll shows Biden approval at nearly 60%, here’s why it doesn’t pass the smell test

It appears that Joe Biden’s gaudy job approval rating as he approaches 100 days in office is another example of how corporate interests might be gaslighting America.

According to the perhaps aptly named Pew Research Center poll, 59 percent of America — assuming the methodology is representative of the country, which takes a leap of a faith in polling companies generally — approves of Biden’s job performance, a five-percent improvement from just a month ago.

Pew randomly sampled about 5,000 U.S. adults who were initially invited out of a larger group of about 20,000 to participate by U.S. mail and then completed the survey online in the April 5-11 time frame.

In the fine print, however, it turns out that the Pew data is weighted nine percent more for Democrats or Democrat leaners than their Republican counterparts — 52 to 43. As for the unweighted comparison, there were 3,253 Democrats or Democrat leaners, and 1,706 Republicans or Republican leaners.

At an equivalent point in his presidency, for what it’s worth, former President Donald Trump supposedly had a 39 percent approval rating based on data from the polling outfit.

As a candidate, Biden barely left his Delaware basement, and when he did, hardly anyone showed up to hear him speak. Biden’s post-election speeches reportedly get very little traction on social media. According to the poll, however, 46 percent like the way Biden conducts himself as president; this rises to 76 percent for Democrats, while 59 percent of Republicans don’t like it.

Among its various findings, Pew claims that 72 percent of the country has a positive impression of the Biden administration vaccine rollout, although it was the Trump administration that implemented Operation Warp Speed that that moved the process along with unprecedented rapidity.

“Gun violence, the affordability of health care, the coronavirus outbreak and racism are each seen as very big problems facing the country today by two-thirds or more Democrats and Democratic leaners…By contrast, illegal immigration and the federal budget deficit are the top problems identified by Republicans,” Pew added.

“The share of Democrats who say [illegal immigration] is a major problem is now 29%, compared with 15% nearly a year ago,” Pew noted.

On the subject of Biden’s alleged near-60-percent favorability, various social media sleuths and others are figuratively saying “C’mon man.” Here is a sampling:
