Conservative activist Candace Owens shared with her nearly 3 million Twitter followers the latest update from the beleaguered yet bold Atilis Gym which for months has been on the receiving end of a vendetta from lockdown-loving N.J. Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy.
“Every business owner in America needs to watch this video,” Owens wrote above the footage that has garnered 400,000-plus hits so far.
In the 46-second Twitter clip (embedded below), defiant Atilis co-owner Ian Smith had a mic-drop moment, except it was done silently on paper.
“We don’t mandate masks. We never will. Gov Murphy will see this video and fine us $15K for it. But…free men don’t ask permission or for forgiveness. No science. No shutdown,” Smith’s printed-out messages declared. The video ends with a panorama of the gym with its members peacefully pumping iron.
Although masks aren’t required at the south Jersey fitness facility according to Smith, Atilis has maintained that it has installed high-tech coronavirus screening measures. If the recent past still holds true, no club member of the thousands that have passed through its doors has as yet tested positive for COVID.

In the video, Smith provided a concise summary of the ongoing harassment from Murphy and other state and local officials that he and equally indefatigable co-owner Frank Trumbetti are dealing with.
- We have had over $1 million in fines
- We have had our business license stripped
- We have had our doors locked and barricaded
- We have been arrested and have over 60 citations
Watch (Warning for expletive in the background):
Every business owner in America needs to watch this video. I have been saying this for months. Unless the Democrats plan to mass murder people for non-compliance— these shutdowns mandates are worth the piece of papers they are written on.

When it comes to health, no individual knows what’s around the corner even absent a pandemic. However, gyms are usually venues where people strengthen their immune systems. With obesity being one of the primary risk factors for COVID-19, public health officials have nonetheless been generally quiet about the importance of fitness and diet.
In states where gyms are operating, usually under reduced capacity, masks even while working out are sometimes required, but most people probably feel that it’s a relatively minor inconvenience in exchange for the ability to stay in shape.
Parenthetically, Murphy has joined the list of various Democrat office holders who appear to have flouted their own mask or social distancing orders. (Warning for language)

The Atilis Gym video shared by Candance Owens and others has prompted a pumped-up reaction, both pro and con, on social media. Here is just a sample from those who agree with the sentiments presented:
I go to a gym. I clean equipment before and after use. I don’t interact with other people. It’s safer than going into Wal-Mart.

This gym is in my state. Over an hour away but I may need to pay them a visit sometime. When I used to go to a gym, many people would wipe down the equipment after use, especially during cold and flu season. A gym is one of the safest places to be in terms of health.

My New Mexico gym is open because we are wearing masks and using sanitizer on the equipment. It works and everyone wins.

Of course it’s not really about science but that’s the excuse.
