The Russian attorney who had that infamous meeting with Donald Trump Jr. at Trump Tower was in contact with a Moscow attorney prior to the June 2016 pow-wow.
Natalia Veselnitskaya was in communications with top Moscow prosecutor Yuri Chaika to go over talking points for the meeting, the New York Times reported.
The discussion topics Veselnitskaya brought with her to the meeting were similar to those given to Rep. Dana Rohrabacher by Veselnitskaya when he met with her during a trip to Moscow in 2016.
The documents allege that Ziff Brothers Investments evaded Russian taxes while giving funds to the Clinton Foundation and Hillary Clinton.
Trump Jr. was told that he would have been given information at the meeting “that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.”
The information was pertaining to investments by William Browder, who was booted out of Russia after fraud was discovered, according to the Times.
Hermitage Capital, the investment firm run by Browder, contributed up to $25,000 to the Clinton Global Initiative and Ziff Brothers gave CGI up to $100,000, according to the documents obtained by Bloomberg, which purported to show that Hillary Clinton was the beneficiary of “stolen” monies.
Veselnitskaya’s documents show that the Ziff Brothers invested with Bowder.
Trump Jr. has maintained that the campaign did not obtain any useful information in the meeting, and that President Donald Trump did not know about the meeting.
