Turns out, President Trump isn’t the only one who believes the “Fake News” media makes up stories about him out of thin air .
Almost half of voters, 46 percent, totally agree, according to a recently released Politico/Morning Consult poll of 1,991 registered voters conducted earlier this month .
Only 46%??? Must be a very heavy D survey:
Poll: 46 percent think media make up stories about Trump https://t.co/0DpJ32Pyki via @politico— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) October 19, 2017
Interestingly, that 46 percent significantly outnumbers the 37 percent who believe the media, while 17 percent aren’t sure. In other words, shocker of shockers, over 60 percent of Americans don’t entirely trust the media.
Of Republican voters, an overwhelming 76 percent believe the media invents stories about President Trump while only 11 percent believe they are telling the truth. Democrats are more lock-step, of course, with only around 20 percent not trusting the media on Trump. Of independents, 44 percent say yes and 31 percent say no.
Of those who strongly approve of President Trump’s performance, 85 percent agree with him on the media.
So many of CNN’s stories of late, including the account that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called President Trump a “moron,” seem to depend on so-called “anonymous” sources – so forgive President Trump and others if they are dubious.
“Actually, dishonesty in the media is one of the things that surprised me the most,” President Trump told radio host Chris Plante, according to Politico. “I thought after I won, the media would become much more stable and much more honest. They’ve gone crazy. CNN is a joke. NBC is a total joke. You watch what they report, it bears no relationship to what I’m doing. But the media is absolutely dishonest — and frankly, I’ve never seen anything quite like it.”
President Trump recently called the establishment news media “fiction writers” in a recent slam. Excluding Fox News of course.

The one place survey voters disagreed with President Trump, however, is whether or not the government should have the power to punish, in the form of pulling broadcast licenses, media outlets who lie. Only 28 percent were willing to go that far, with 51 percent opposing.
As noxious as some of these media outlets are, freedom of the press is still important to America.
And in the long run, that’s a good thing.
