A horrific scene unfolded at the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday night that caused Gov. John Kasich to shut down all the rides.
One man was killed and seven people were injured, many critically, after the Fire Ball ride malfunctioned, Fox 28 reported.
Video shared on social media showed part of the ride separating and falling to the ground as the rest of the ride swung towards the sky.

The man who was killed, an 18-year-old, died upon impact after part of the ride snapped off and slammed his body to the ground.
*Update: It was later revealed that the young man who lost his life was Tyler Jarell. Jarrell’s impressive accomplishment had been posted to Facebook just five days prior that he had enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps.
The victims range in age from 13 – 41 years old, according to Fox 28.
“I am terribly saddened by this accident, by the loss of life and that people were injured enjoying Ohio’s fair,” Gov. John Kasich said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to those grieving and injured. I have ordered a full investigation into this incident and have ordered that all fair rides be shut down until additional safety inspections can be completed.”

At a news conference Gov. Kasich expanded on his statement.
“It’s a very tough day. It’s a very tough night for the people of our state because of the loss of our citizens,” he said.
“We will get to the bottom of this. We will investigate it. There will be complete transparency,” he said. “Make no mistake about it, it is a very, very sad night for all of us.”
Video of the aftermath was equally terrifying.
