CNN’s Chris Cuomo was roundly mocked after being owned by Kellyanne Conway in a more than half hour marathon interview, that became a war of epic proportions.
On Monday, during his “New Day” show, the brother of Democrat New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and son of the late former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, was taken to the woodshed by Conway, who asked him if he was “embarrassed” to work for the Russia obsessed network.
The marathon melee between the two brought commentary from all corners of the political spectrum.
Including Fox News’ Tucker Carlson who ridiculed Cuomo for not denying Conway’s charge that his network made a “business decision to become the anti-Trump network.”
“It’s kind of a strong charge since of course that if true would bear no resemblance at all to journalism, and yet Chris Cuomo does not bother to deny that or even seem surprised by the charge, but then why would he because it’s true,” Carlson said.
The Fox News host then took aim at Cuomo’s video on Facebook where he bragged about how much time the network gave Conway and how fair they were to her and to President Donald Trump’s administration.
But, he said, the anti-President Trump stance of the network has not been effective as its shows have recently gone “below “Nick @ Nite” sitcom reruns in the prime time ratings.
NewsBusters Executive Editor Tim Graham also joined in the mockery when he appeared on Fox Business Network’s “Risk & Reward.”
Graham pointed to the Media Research Center’s numbers that show CNN devoted 350 minutes of coverage related to Russia while avoiding actual policy issues, joking that it ought to switch its name with “Russia Today.”
“What you really have here is a set of networks who just can’t accept that Hillary Clinton lost, that she was just that terrible a candidate, and that their reporting just wasn’t that influential, so they had to assign to it some grand conspiracy theory,” he said.
And as for Cuomo, Graham said Conway was proven correct is her assertion that his show, and network, is obsessed with Russia.
“This [interview] was more than 30 minutes, you know, most Americans would think of 30 minutes of being interview by Chris Cuomo with a long slow, root canal,” he said. “And all he wanted to talk about was Russia, so she was obviously right about that. The whole time she was on, that was all they wanted to talk about.”
