A North Carolina math teacher is in trouble after she was accused of having sexual activity with three students.
Erin McAuliffe, 25, a math teacher at Rocky Mount Preparatory School, was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual activity with a student as well as one count of indecent liberties with a minor, WITN reported.
Police opened the investigation in May after they received reports that McAuliffe may have been engaging in sexual activity with the male students off of school property.
Authorities interviewed students and faculty before they obtained a search warrant, and arrested the teacher.
McAuliffe was fired on May 4, a day before police were told of the alleged crimes, according to WITN.
Two of the alleged victims are 17-years-old and the third is 16, according to WNCN.
“We have been fully cooperative with local law enforcement during the course of their handling of this matter,” the school said in a statement.
Students and parents are stunned by the allegations.
“I was really surprised,” Felicia Russel, the parent of a Rocky Mount student, told WNCN. “I thought that women teachers were getting smarter and better.”
“It’s very shocking and appalling that a person would do that with a student,” Rocky Mount graduate said.
McAuliffe is being held on $20,000 bond in the Carteret County jail.
Despite the seriousness of the crime, many on social media couldn’t get over how beautiful McAuliffe is.
