‘Dems worst nightmare’: With Chaffetz out, Republicans waste no time filling his spot

This is not going to make Democrats happy.

With the impending retirement of Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the Republican Steering Committee has tapped South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy to head the House Oversight Committee as its new chairman, Politco reported.

Gowdy is a bulldog who was in charge of the select committee that investigated the 2012 Benghazi attack.

An investigation that uncovered Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while Secretary of State. A finding that probably played a major role in why she isn’t the President of the United States.

The oversight committee will be in charge of investigating the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.

Gowdy didn’t put his name forward for the post but was picked by the steering committee on Thursday to take over for Chaffetz, who is retiring at the end of June.

The news was met with happiness from conservatives.
