HBO’s response to Bill Maher’s use of the N-word leaves people scratching their heads

HBO has responded to one of its biggest personalities using the N word on national television. But not everyone is satisfied with its reaction.

On Friday, Bill Maher used the racial slur as he interviewed Republican Sen. Ben Sasse, prompting many to call for the cable network to fire the popular liberal host.

And while some made a desperate attempt to somehow blame Sasse for what Maher did, HBO released a statement describing what action it would take.

Maher issued an apology shortly thereafter.

“Friday nights are always my worst night of sleep because I’m up reflecting on the things I should or shouldn’t have said on my live show. Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment. The word was offensive and I regret saying it and am very sorry,” he said in a statement.

Some on social media appeared to not want to have any action taken at all, while others found HBO’s response to be a lot less than they wanted.
