The hit sitcom “Last Man Standing” might not be done after all.

When the highly rated show was unceremoniously cut by ABC executives, in a stunning move, fans were outraged.

And star of the show, Tim Allen, said he was “blindsided” by the decision.

Many believed that the show, which was ABCs second most watched comedy, was cut because of it’s conservative leanings.

Channing Dungey, the president of ABC entertainment, denied politics played a role.

“Once we made the decision not to continue with comedy on Friday, it was just kind of that’s where we landed,” she told reporters.

Howard Kurtzman and Jonnie Davis, the presidents of 20th Century Fox Television, the studio that produces the show, said they were as stunned by the cancellation as Allen was, according to Variety.

“That’s the one that’s really an open sore right now,” Davis told Variety.

“We really were expecting a pickup. The fact that we didn’t get a pickup was a surprise and a disappointment. I think no one was more disappointed than Tim Allen, such a huge star with such a huge following,: Kurtzman said.

But the show might be on the comeback trail.

When asked if they were shopping the show to other networks, Kurtzman said that process has begun.

“We’re starting to explore that. If it’s not going to go forward at ABC, of course Jonnie and I are hopeful that we can find another home for it,” he said.

Though it is tough for series after their sixth season because productions costs are higher, the fans passionate support of the show gives it hope, according to the studio.
