Driver in custody after car plows into pedestrians, ends up crashing in NYC’s Times Square

At least one person has died and New York City’s Time Square has grinded to a halt after a vehicle plowed into pedestrians.

The collision happened in one of the city’s most busy hours around noon at the corners of 43rd Street and 7th Avenue.

The vehicle was driving the wrong way before getting onto the sidewalk and slamming into pedestrians, the New York Post reported.

The driver, Richard Rojas, 26, with a history of DUIs, has been arrested and at least 13 injured people have been taken to hospitals.

According to photographs, a dark skinned suspect was taken into custody.

Given the fact that trucks have been used to commit attacks in Europe, many social media users were quick to suspect terror. But, the news media and NYC officials are pushing back on that narrative.

This story is developing.
